God made women because mens brains are broken.

PvP consequences – the fugitive system

No longer will evil misdeeds go unpunished. Of course, Hyboria is ruthless and barbaric so don’t expect anyone to deal out justice just because someone smacks you about with a very heavy axe, but some justice is actually now being introduced to the world.

This is where the fugitive system comes in, presented in a set of colors defining your fugitive status – from blue to orange and eventually the deadly red.

Everyone is by default classified as “blue”, but your actions as a player killer will affect your fugitive rating. If you kill someone way under your level, you will notice that you will very quickly move to red. So will actions such as killing someone repeatedly, or other general unfairness. The more serious the crime, the quicker you rise in fugitive.

Obtaining red status will be quite painful to you. This means that other players can kill you without rising in fugitive level, and if they manage to kill you while you have red fugitive you will actually drop one of your better items and gold that they can loot!

Of course, turning red will be a double-edged sword. Sure, it will get you a lot of attention and many will probably see you as a danger to be avoided. But at the same time, people will hunt you down for your items and your gold so be very, very careful!

Am I the only one that see's a system like this means epic fail?

First, what if a guild is at war with another guild?  Are we not suppose to be able to kill anyone and everyone from that guild when we see them?  I dunno about anyone else and how they play, but when a KOS status has been given to an enemy guild - it means anyone...anyone from the KOS guild is a target.    So will this new fugitive system mess up the players chances to war with other guilds?  Or are we now being force fed how to conduct our own wars of who we fight and when we fight?

I have played many FFA PvP games and to me this kind of smacks in the face of what FFA PvP is all about.  It also means we'll have less choices on how we players decide to conduct a war against another guild.

Another flaw to this system I see is the fact that if you go red you'll stand the chance to drop something.  Hello!  Funcom your game mechanics in regard to gear completely sucks as it is now.   If a player drops their primary weapon...where do you suppose they'll get a new one when the current loot system is one of the worst ever seen in an MMORPG.   You've locked all the good weapons in the forms of quest drops.  Quest that can be an only done once.   So if a player goes red and drops their primary weapon, based on your new system,  where are they suppose to get a new weapon?  Until Funcom introduces a much better and robust loot system and drop rate I cannot see this new system working.    I think it will drive players away from the FFA PvP servers because this consequences system, if implemented under the current loot system doesn't allow for players to get another decent weapon.

I have played in games with FFA PvP rule sets that allowed for player looting.   Asheron's Call Darktide was like this.  You could drop items when killed.   Oh and in that game you dropped whether you were flagged a fugitive or not...and you could be stripped clean.   So I am all for player looting...as long as there is the option to get replacement items, weapons and armor.   As it currently stands in Age of Conan this is not viable.   In fact AoC's itemization of MOB's blows chunks...one ofhe worst I have come across in a game to date.

Just one example of Aoc's lousy loot system.

If however, Funcom does introduce a better loot system then I see no problem with loot dropping off players.  Until then, this is a bad, bad ideal and I think a vast majority of players on the FFA PvP servers will agree with me.

I am all for some kind of anti-griefing system to be put in place...but this system they have come up with will hurt this game and take away part of the challenge we face as we wok our way up in level on a FFA PvP server- in my opinion.

Equipment type available means that your class can not use this weapon type until the level stated. This confused me as well when I started out playing.

You are missing the point.  It is a level 50 sword in a place that only goes to level 20(or a little past).  Also see those damage stats.   Well after you leave Tortage...it doesn't get much better from randomly dropped loot.   Quest items give you the best stats and random drops are just pure junk.

Awwwww, c'mon now!

FFA-PVP fans of all stripes have been clamoring for looting as a death penalty!

It just makes me laugh to no end that the looting is not of the helpless sheep!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The "wolves" shall now commence to bleat!

Mind you, they DO need to make exceptions for guildwars in the scheme.

But for those who specialize in killing the weak "because they can"?

Muha...Muha... MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!

already a thread here http://mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/185262

its really anoying how everyone assume FC are not going to do the obvious things to make it balanced. I can understand all the self claimed hardcore crowd of lowbie gankers QQing (hilarious btw), but people crying imbalance already need to try it out first! you assume way to much.

anyhow I love the system. and will probably have at least one red character just for the arenaline rush, danger, risk and genral feeling of being a criminal and hunted down. and it means I'm going to get 1 shotted by higher levels alot less [when blue].

Dear Game Developers,

Paper is fine though.

You guys are missing the point.   I can take my PoM out with no armor, no weapons, drop all my items into a bank, all my monies and then go out and grief until the sun comes up.   I'll drop nothing if I am killed and a level 80 PoM can pwn a lot of people their level - imagine the havok a level 80 PoM would wrought upon KP or Conall Valley.    Funcoms consequences are moot at that point dontcha thunk?!

There is a couple of better systems they could use.   The one they are considering makes it look like Funcom didn't think it through much now does it.

Thats a very good point, we will soon just see naked 80s running around ganking people... as opposed to ones with clothes on.

So next time we get ganked the last thing we will see is a pair of boobies.

O_o o_O
