I have this game .. I have lvl 80 and lvl 70 and various lvl 20 classes . The Game is really quite fun and quests are great etc .. HOWEVER The game has serious bugs which are game breaking. 1.) MEMORY LEAK - you first notice it after your map and radar go grey , textures start going weird then eventually the game just crashes. Usually happens if you Zone alot. 2) FREEZING IN COMBAT - This usually happens at least 1 time when you first start game up.. and you will be doing that every 2 hours at least because of 1) ... I will send a bug report while you are frozne .. you probably will die during the freeze . .. I could go on about a heap of other bugs but these ones are game breakers. LoTR , WoW , EQ etc had nothing as bad as these.
P.S I have great computer and run the game at 50-120 fps on high settings so its not my rig .. on the tech issues forums 100,000s of other players having same issues .. I heard Vista64 might be the only way to run this game .. but I cant say for sure.

And what is odd...there are others who do not have these issues. Myself for example. So, we always need to question all the various problems and ask "Is it a driver?, OS?, Hardware?" I have no memory leak or freezes. Weird |

Hey Openedge1, so you think AoC is much better than LOTRO, same, or worse in some aspects? I used to read your critiques of LOTRO in that forum. |

Everyone is leaving AOC for Vanguard anyway. Yes, Vanguard. Forget what you know about the game, it's come a long way. Read the blogs, the posts, the sites. It's crazy. Hell, look at curse.com Vanguard is the third most popular MMO atm

Same here, I've had no issues, minus the occasional lag spike, which has always been serverwide. I had a friend who tried to play with lower than recommended specs, and it worked for him as well, until we went into Tortage (his video card was to big for his power supply), then his computer would shut down. Another coworker can't play at all, he freezes on load screens constantly, and he's using some gaming laptop that was made for Bioshock, so it's not too shabby. His wife's computer runs it just fine. There are a lot of variables that FC needs to shuffle through, and quickly, to figure out the root of evil. |

I've gone through various stages on the game...started off a little rough performance wise at launch for me. But the following week they did something and it ran just awesome!
Then they did a patch on June 2nd and I went from 40-60 fps to 15-20 and nothing I changed in settings raised or lowered my fps. Tried 4-5 different drivers so on. I shared the same problem alot of other 8800 nvidia users had.
My game has ran so laggy for the most part I often concidered just cancelling my account...but now the patch today they fixed (for me) whatever they broke and I'm back to nice fps again. :) I just got this creeping feeling they will break it next patch! |

Hmm, that smacks of lack of optimization on FC's part. When there is seeminly random portion of users with a variety of rigs getting problems, there is some elbow grease required on the base code. Just an observation. Most games deal with this on some level, but it usually gets worked out eventually. Isn't AoC marketed as a next-gen MMO (graphic/system-wise)? I wonder if XBox owners will have these issues when they get it? |

Honestly? Yes. I actually disappeared and have been playing the game full bore. As a good PvE game, I enjoy it. I know it has issues, as most games do, but the issues have not detracted from the fun. As to PvP, I figure, let them work out the kinks, get any bizarre issues out of the way, as I learn the classes and gamestyle..then the game will be awesome for PvP action (with the sieges as well) Check my blog for some discussion on the game.. Cheers |
