"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand" - Randy Pausch

And there is still no beta.  Everyone here is being distracted by this publisher deal and the interview, but they are still forgetting the fact this game will be releasing in, at most, 6 months (and open beta is for a few weeks as well).  That would be okay, if they were actually HAVING BETA.  Professional testers do NOT count, as 20 testers is nothing close to 20000.

There is no way that DF plans to release within the next six months when they have not even had a closed public beta.  With this seamless, full PvP world, 200v200 seiges, you need more than 20, hell, more than 200 people testing your game!

All the fanbois can say that this game is releasing, yet they know as much as anyone that you cannot just have 5 months of beta and have a polished game for release.

By now, if DF was actually prepared for a beta (which they should be 5 months before release) then why don't they actually have beta testing?  They have not even announced a beta date yet....

Yay! Quote!

They've already stated that release will be preceded by a few weeks (not months) of open beta testing.

I  never said that.  I stated that they said DF will be in open beta for 2-3 weeks (or something along those lines).  If I did say that, then please point it out and I will edit my post, as it was probably a typo.

I stand by the fact that such a choice will ensure that any release they may or may not have will go down in a sea of flaming FAIL.

A game which plans to offer so many outlets will need to have them polished fairly well.  Anything less will actually DAMAGE the concepts for other teams out there.  Should Darkfall either fail or fail to release...I'd at least like someone to be able to market the concepts again.  If it fails to make good on them...*sigh*....well, its 10 more years of EQ.

One thing comes to mind.. Suck it!

It's all good, their breaking edge technology humanoid bots will take care of all the problems as well as wipe Tasos's ass for him. It can also make sunday night less lonely with it's built in pleasure sensors and cook bacon with a push of the button. Hot damn, watch out AI scientist Adventurine is on to something here.

Oh hell...lol.  I still can't believe people buy that.  Seriously, in this day and age...jesus...common sense tells you that such a "bot" wouldn't work.  I'm with you on that one, Hash.  I won't even bother trying to explain why again...I figure if someone is dense enough to buy into such crap even WITH so many people who work in the field telling you what technology CAN'T do....then they probably don't have the capacity for it anyway.

Bleh...I won't go on.  I'll just leave it at that.  Love the ideals, but the people behind the wheel are monkeys.  Only actual monkeys would probably entertain me more with their silliness.

Poo flinging is always a riot.

Oh ya the ideas sound great on paper, that is just it on paper. It's like a group of college guys who get together every night to create an MMO that will destory WoW, it is only a dream and though dreams drive innovation. The only thing this team is driving is themselves into the ground.

I'm trying to remain neutral at this point, but this post just made me laugh.  Not saying it's the right thing to say, but it's funny.
