I am not sure if I should feel dirty and need a long shower after this but praise where praise is due...

I returned to Vanguard using the free month after many many months away, infact I don't  think I paid anything after my included month adter release.  Anyways I have played a few days and have been really enjoying myself, joined a guild, grouped with a few random people and been having a blast.

One thing that did happen is I had a small bug where I couldn't turn in a quest.  I petitioned this and had to log off for the evening.  Upon returning this had been corrected and two seperate messages left by GM's.  Friendly, professional, informative etc etc

If they keep this service up and management don't pull one of their stupid strokes then Vanguard actually stands a chance at turning it all around..

At least I believe so.

I have played pretty much every MMO that hits North America. The customer service in Vanguard beats all of the past MMOs, hands down.

Not only are the GMs very professional, but are pretty quick in answering a petition. Also, if they have a few minutes to spare, they will start turning players into chickens, frogs and camels.

Its funny to watch a 2 humped camel tank a raid mob while a bunch of chickens attack it from behind.

They do that as a form of entertainment because the games population is so low that they have to entertain themselves somehow.

I have to say that I've had nothing but great service in Vanguard. Even when I made an idiotic mistake and took the wrong quest reward for my class, I petitioned and within about ten minutes they helped me get the correct item!

yeah, GM service is very good in VG, I too had a small issue with a bugged quest, filed a petition, logged out and when I logged back in next day it had been solved (and I had been e-mailed with the information of my petition status).

This is good service, but I don't know if they'll be able to keep it up to this standard once ore people start flocking in again...

It's truly sad when a customer needs a solution for a problem, and receive some friendly customer service; which happens to be their job since you are paying for a service and or goods. The service happens to be friendly and helpful, and people see this as extraodinary... It has been too common in the gaming industry, that customers are accepting of bad service for which they pay for with their hard earned money.   For a statement such as this, leads me to wonder what the hell have they been doing to their customer base.. truly sad, and a deplorable way of conducting business.

Never had any issues with CS in VG. Its proably the only SOE game that has it worth a damn.

The game launched in such bad state they decided NOT to compound it by giving crap service on top of it. Pretty strange for an SOE game, I know.

Playing: City of Heroes, Guild Wars
Favorite Games: Lineage 2,World of Warcraft, DAoC, AC, Vanguard, Ryzom
Tried (Meh list): Everquest 2, Guild Wars, LotR, Tabula Rasa, Hellgate, Warhammer(beta) SWG, DDO, RFO, FFXI, PotBS, EVE

lol! Truly is amazing for $OE.  Now, I almost played Vangaurd, it actually looks like a decent game, but SOE scared me away.

maybe not with Vangaurd, but what's sad, is that customers are accepting this slip shod customer service, and are still forking over their hard earned money.  Unfortunately I have to bash Funcom on this, they must have taken notes from the SWG customer service.. The best way to teach these companies that this isn't acceptable, is to cancel subs and fill out a questionnaire.  If you still want to play the game, re-sub later, but at least they will get the message.
