Actually, WAR has a LOT more in common with DAoC than it does WoW.  The problem is that too many people had their mmorpg cherry popped by WoW so they don't know any better and end up sounding like idiots when they try to talk about it.

Again, people who cry "WoW clone" are either uninformed or intentionally blind.

I'd say WAR is more of a DAoC clone than a WoW clone.  I agree being a WoW clone isn't bad due to its success in the MMO community.  But WAR is somewhat new to me.  It has some features seen in DAoC and WoW ect, but I still feel like it marchs to its own beat.  I'm not too concerned what game it reminds me of anyway as long as it is fun to play and doesn't run like crap.

But wow is for teh kids. WAR has nice graphics. And this guy Barnett is so cool. He always makes me and my friends at school laugh. And he also said that we are going to kill big bad monsters, and no boring death penaties and teen rating, which mommy likes. She promised to buy me Warhammer for christmas. Can't wait.

You, my son, are confused.

Each and every piece of creative endeavor made by humans anytime and anywhere is based on something else that someone else made before. That, my son, is the nature of things.

For example, Mona Lisa is a portrait. That doesn't mean that it is a rip-off or a clone of portraits done before it. Manet was the first of the great impressionists but if someone said that Degas, for example, is "cloning" or "ripping-off" Manet, that someone would get laughed out of the room as an ignorant simpleton that he is.

That being said, that each game is based on something else that has gone before it, the real question is on what is it based on? Personally I'd rather have WAR being based on DAoC core game design rather than WoWs... for in these matters WoW sucks and DAoC rules.

All games should look at what others are doing and what is working.  Thats what Blizzard did and then added some very technical aspects to the game that no other company had gotten into their games before. 

Will WAR launch with no AH ?  Or trading system where you need to stay online to sell (like EQ2 had at launch)?  

War will hopefully also look at some of the games that have things that  aren't working as well as the devs wanted.  Lets for example take LOTRO moral system and music playing "healing" effects....  Some like it - but majority of healer types simply hate it and can't stand playing the game cause of it.

And hopefully WAR will learn from AOC that launching an unfinished game is not really that great .... unless you are just gonna steal some money from ppl - and then run away and make a XboX version with the leftovers... 

In terms of wow clone  - I hope WAR brings few key elements of WoW gameplay, custimation  and comunity aspects to their game.  If not it might end up pretty bad.

Needless to say, WAR is far from being a "WoW ripoff."  I've played WoW for a number of years and I'm in WAR Beta.  I can assure you that WAR is a different animal altogether.

Don't worry, i've been suspended numerous times, for 1 or 3 days each time. I've learned my lessons.

WOW=PVE raiding same scripted zones over and over for LOOTS to move to the next tier and repeat till you can move to next tier and so on and of course Blizzard does try add RVR
