Firefrost

I loved this game when I just started, but when I got to aorund 46 ~ on my Ranger, it got boring.

The biggest is the PvP part, if you choose a PvP server, its everyone vs everyone, and if they get the jump on you (SKILL DOESNT MATTER!), you are dead.

[EDIT: About the above text, don't tell me to go play PvE, when obviously I know the rules (none..) of PvP, the problem lies in the PvP system itself)

So while I am writing this, a level 73 douchebag by the name Brehon, a Barbarian, decided to kill every one sight in the starter area. He is a WoW kid and there are lots him.

Here are some convos:

(Click onthe links, MMORPG.com wouldnt let me put in a picture.)

Next thing he was yelling I AM THE MASTER.

The game is hollow, full of bugs, idiots and have huge class balance issues (ToS..........)

Yup.

That's typical FFA PVP, alright.

And people wonder why it is not the most popular rules model.

I can see what your saying. But the Wow jabs are old. This happens in any game with a poor pvp system with no repruccussions. And these types of actions have been going on far longer than WOW has been around.

Behold! Rash of the Itch King comes in November! Quake in fear!

Would be funny if he was polite back.

"No, I want to play here, but you obviously ruin it for everyone else."

"Oh good sir, my deepest apologies! But, it is clearly stated that I can kill whomever I please. Sorry for any inconvinience, but please, I suggest returning in 30 minutes' time. At that point I should be gone and you can enjoy the game however you wish. Good day!"

That'd be even more funny and less annoying then the KAPSLOCK R KRUISE KONTROL FER KOOL method he has.

"In EVE, no one gives a damn about a fair fight." - chafin

First, no reason to slam WoW for the bad behavior on a PVP server.  This sort of thing has been going on since the beginning of FFA PVP back in UO (and probably before) and its one reason why this sort of rule set doesn't appeal to most people.

Strangely enough, I'm a Carebear yet I play on these servers.  They require a different mindset, you play very defensively, heck, I never even bothered to read the quest text because I didn't want to get nailed at the quest givers.

Just the other night my son and I (level 39's) ran into a guild called "I gank" that was holding the crossroads in the Noble District.  There were about 6 level 60's holding it and killing all who dared try to pass.

Took my son and I about 4 or 5 tries..but we pulled it off eventually and reached out objective.

That's the mind set required in a FFA PVP game, to succeed in spite of the gankers.  You accomplish this by being quick, evading danger, traveling in packs and strong guild groups to battle the forces of darkness.

If you aren't cut for this sort of gameplay, and expect people to play fair, then your protagonist was actually correct in his advice to you...go play on a PVE server.  The rule set does permit him to do what he did (though I think I read the repeated ganking of lowbies is a bannable offense, you might have wanted to report him)

OP, I'd recommend you steer clear of games like AOC, Darkfall and Earthrise.  These are going to be harsh worlds (though AOC will get better with new pvp honor system) and I don't think you have the mindset for them.

Come to think of it...maybe WoW would be a good game for you.

I can remember a guild called "The Smurfs" in Ultima Online.  They did the same thing.  Had a 3-point fork and killed everyone.

This is what kept me coming back for 4+ years.  It had a real feeling that anyone could come up and hack the shit out of you.  Yeah some people don't care for this, but it does make you think a lot different.

Hi, I'm from the server you played on "apparently" and I registered on this site just to be able to quickly tell you what happened before and after you tried to reason with brehon. (you weren't alone but no1 else reacted the way you did I think)

First off, before this all happend apparently the guy got killed several times trying to quest at a place where a group of people was questing aswell, they didn't appreciate having to wait for respawns so he had to clear way.

The pea-brain that is brehon decided to take out his frustration on people he could handel... New arrivals.
About 10 minutes in a bunch of 80s went to the starter area, and subsequently removed brehon. A nice feature in ffa pvp realms which always happens, self-policing of the players.

Brehon reacted by spamming general chat over and over, and is now apparently on a few days ban.

If you decide to give aoc a try, give a tell to reeses, I'm a 60 ranger on your server, also pretty new to aoc but I managed to get in a guild where a few lvl 80s show up to help us out if anything like what happend to you with brenon happens to us.

PS: You can see clearly WHERE he got ganked if you read the chatlog in the second picture of the OP

x2. Funcom tried to make the game play primarily PvE with the PvP as bonus play. Funcom likes to bite off way more than they can chew, they have some good ideas
