Age of Conan

I purchased age of conan and upgraded my pc. I was excited at first because the game really looks amazing in the screenshots. Lets face it, it's just eyecandy.

Most of the player base play with terrible performance even if they own a high end rig. The few that play with good performance get first hand at how bad the game actually is. There is no end game content, the controls are akward and to me the combat system was just horrid.

This game reminds me of something in the early beta stages. Games need to cater to everyone. Look at wow, everquest... The list is obviously bigger i am just naming a couple. Games like those make it so a wide variety of pc users can play the game smoothly and they offer good gameplay whther you are low or a high level.

To me, age of conan stole my 50 dollars and ran away. There is no trial. If there was they would lose so much money because people could actually see how horrid the game actually is for themselves. Every other game i have played gave me the entertainment i paid for, aoc gave me a headache.

So before you consider purchasing this game, seriously just do the research. The ratings it has are from pre-release when everyone was drooling over the screenshots. Notice how the rating goes lower and lower everyday, keep an eye on it.

Maybe we need to stand up and demand some type of refund for this game. It's not just about the money we spent on it and upgrading our pc's. It's mainly about the ethics, we did not get what we paid for. If you enjoy the game that's cool, you are one of the few.

This is sort of a part 2 that compares age of conan to anarchy online. I have played anarchy online for years which is also from funcom. The graphics are very old. The game is notorious for having choppy gameplay. When you do missions you constantly freeze up in doorways regardless of having a great pc. Or if you are in a raid you will probably experience very low fps (around the 1-5 range).

For some reason funcom could never get the graphics aspect of their games right. It's hard to explain unless you have played anarchy online. My point is mainly the lack of good end game content and bad performance has stemmed over from anarchy online to age of conan.

Over the past year anarchy online has been copying wow. Every new content patch steals something directly from wow. For example things like target of target, the raid interface which is coming soon, vp which are just the same as honor points which are used to purchase pvp gear, the inspect function. I could list everything but it would take quite awhile. I expect them to do the same with age of conan.

In short funcom has really left us short changed. Are they allowed to get away with it? It seems anyone that speaks out on their forum gets banned or just ignored because of the lack of moderators. My advice is just to steer clear of this game.

This post made me laugh.  From your own admission, you knew how Funcom operates, are aware of their flaws as plainly posted by you here, and yet you went ahead and bought the game anyways?

Definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Hey, I've never dealt with Funcom, so I might have a reason to complain.  No,  I read the early reviews and reports slipping out of beta, trials and the dodgy way it was released. and knew that buying it early was a risk.  My expectations were low..so I'm not really surprised or disappointed in the game.

Yeah, I suppose you could demand your money back.  Go ahead, give it a try, maybe you'll pull it off somehow.  Report them to the BBB at the very least, so that a history gets built up on them

Yes i can see your point. After 7 years of anarchy online though you would expect things to improve with their 2nd title. I have definately learned from my mistakes though... If there is ever a 3rd title from funcom i will not be touching it ;).

 Well really AoC/FC did not steal your money in any way. They claimed to have a great game...many of us bought into the hype n purchased the game. We who bought the game took the chance that it would be good or bad. We take this chance every time we buy a MMO.  As for the 'Free trial' , well they have that now...it only costs $3 (obviously for FC nothing is free). So don't expect to see any kinda refund either way.

As for the way their Mods n GMs are swinging around that banhammer...I think this will catch up with FC. Sure they can ban you from game/forums...but they cannot ban people from the net. There are many websites dedicated to MMOs n many forums. Many of which post similar complaints about AoC. This in my opion is giving the game overall an even worse reputation. As a company that doesn't care about it's fanbase or future fanbase. Sub numbers don't seem to matter as much as the box sales to them.

Even if they fix all the issues with the game...I donno if they can fix their tarnished reputation that the GMs n Forum mods are giving them.

I was a fan of AoC, I cancelled my sub, with intentions on returning once many bugs/issues were fixed. However over the past while I have been seeing how poorly their forum Mods behave. N seeing people getting banned from game for something small, while massive exploits remain ok seems a bit silly to me. I will probibly not return to the game and certainly will not recommend it to anybody I know.

This game is already out, n I imagine the amount of bad rep they have will leave future MMOs by this company in question. I think they lost alot of players n potential players, and they may find future fanbase much smaller.

JFC, all you haters, don't  friggin play, lol.......it is that simple.  You mean to tell me, you actually took every single game (MMO or not) and went back to the store if you didn't like it, and demanded your money back?!?!  HAH, Whatever!

  Also, EVERY MMO out atm has some aspect of others, including the Target of Target, and many many other features that have made the gaming experience of the players "more enjoyable"

  When Windows 98 was BSoD'ing on a consistent basis, did you go get your money back from MS?!  Lol, I understand alot of folks are upset because they have had problems, has happened with every single MMO that's come out to date, SOMEONE somewhere had a problem with the software.

  The combat system is one of the things I was very happy with in AoC, and I play VG, EVE, AoC, in CoSB beta, have played some WAR beta, I will play every single one that interests me in some manner, and if I don't like it in the end run, you know what I will do?!?    MOVE ON!   nuff said

Sounds good, I got a refund from SOE for EQ, SWG and VG and when they refunded my monies from VG they also sent me a T-shirt and fired a bozo head GM for me (GM Moonshine). I hear that GM is working back at Waffle House but the T-shirt was un finished also.

But the bonanza was getting my refund from Farlan/"DnL" plus they are sending me checks each month for $500 to keep my mouth shut about what was really going on there!!!

You need to learn to not fall to any hype instead of asking for refund for your bad purchase.

i dont think anyone will get a refund. just avoid Funcom at all cost and you should be fine. ive never been let down by a game like AoC has let me down though. in 20 years of video gaming, game after game i dont think any game has even come close to me hating it until AoC. i have never read a review of a game before i bought it, because i have never needed to. the games have always been what i thought they would be. so at this point im not going to let one bad company spoil the rest.
