I was reading through a couple of forums and wow related sites about the new achievements system going to be introduced in the new x-pack and I was thinking:

is that really true or is it a big ironic experiment from blizz to see how desperate and dump the majority of the wow players are?

At the beginning I was thinking, ok there  is another way of introducing the already famous welfare rewards from blizz as people were so fascinated about this system.

But I was utter amazed when realising that you dont get actually ANYTHING from grinding achievements points other than the proof in your char panel that .....well you have grinded gratz, rofl.

I made a sarcastic post in the official wow forums, asking if I could have changed the name of the bar showing your achievemts rating into something more suiteable as "your NO-LIFE rating" as actually you dont get anything back for wasting your time on doing useless repetitive grinds and what was the first answer?

Well it was "but you do get something for completing achievments  - you get achievment points !!!!"

Omg how great is that, you get points showing how sad you are, sitting in front of your computer and killing 1 trizillian boars, that must be so challenging and satisfying.

Honestly how much lower can it get ???

Behold! Rash of the Itch King comes in November! Quake in fear!

I heard you can get some titles and items, maybe some trinkets, also whatever unlocks you get will help progress your realm.

OH WAIT. That's the Tome of Knowledge.

www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath/features/gameplay/achievements.xml

Some achievements come with in-game rewards such as tabards, vanity pets, and titles. All of these rewards are purely cosmetic and just for fun

it is fluff, but can lead to more than a title

Blizzard will be expanding this to their other games

Luckily you are not forced to do either the TOK or achievements as you don't get substantially performance changing rewards.  As such, you can choose to do it or not, so it's not a compulsory grind.

Hrm, wished this had been around when I was grinding to exalted in the Argent Dawn far before anyone knew about Naxx.

All for the resistance buff enchant :)

Ah good times.

But I promote achievement systems like this simply because "it's little bits of: 'Ooh, Cool.'"

Such tiny things, but they add so much to a game.

Taking that logic to the extreme, what is the point of playing anything?

What is the point of leveling? Getting gold? Getting gear? Just so you can level some more, one day hit 70 and be like "ok I'm done."

Games, all games, are artificial fun time-wasters, its for entertaining yourself, there IS no point.

So if someone finds achievements fun who are you to knock it?

My last login was back on April, even then~ it was merely 10-days resurrection scroll I got by asking it from a friend of mine to see how Sunwell looks like.

WoW's still good but doesn't offer anything new that justifies me renewing my subscription.

Since then, I actively play TF2 -- and had a great time there: especially, w/ Achievements. Not only that Achievements are fun to do, it's rewarding new weapons too -- particularly in the case of Medic and Pyro.

Recently, I
