played: almost every mmo out there

I don't think so simply because it plays too much like WoW.

I kinda doubt that.  They are not aiming for the same group, wow is a teenage friendly game while WAR is darker and seems to be aiming at a older playerbase.

Also, there is the matter of content, wow is gigantic while WAR seems to be cutting down a lot lately.

And then there is the hype, ad the risk that WAR will release to early, to me it seems like WAR is in the same state as AoC was a month before release, will Mythic really be ready or are EA forcing them to release to early? WAR might do just as AoC and Vanguard (up as a sun, down as a pancake).

I don't doubt WAR will get quite a few of wows PvP players and also some guys who havn't played MMOs before but spend theyre time playing GW  tabletop games.

Id say half a million players in a year if mythic and EA don't screw it up badly. They might get a lot more if they deliver and WOTLK sucks but Guildwars 2 will release during that time and it will have even more massive PvP and RvR and no monthly fees, and the first Guildwars have sold more than any MMO 'cept wow, and it is horribly instanced while GW2 won't be that.

No. it havn't really. WAR can still deliver but if your'e thinking that not believing it will surpas wow in a year is flaming, then youre in the wrong forum. Noone have done it yet, and it is possible that no monthly cost game will ever.

In my opinion, I think WoW will loose some (probably a small percentage, as compared to the amount that stays) of its player base to WAR as it did to AoC (at least at first).

However, I believe that it will find its niche audience in a month or two. I highly doubt WAR will ever reach the numbers that WoW has, simply because, as someone said above, WoW is more teenage and younger accessible, while WAR is darker, and more adult oriented. Also, there will be (hopefully) not a large quantity of single players "pwning" other players, unless they are focus fired. Which the lack of player instagibs will turn off a certain crowd of players.

Those players will return to WoW, but I do think that WAR will survive.
