While you're correct that you would have to get around 450 badges I think it is to completely fill a full set of gear, you can easily get about 25 to 30 badges a week running nothing but Kara and a couple dailies which takes what, about 6 hours? You can do that in 1 night very easily, you don't have to do it endlessly. So that means you have 6 other nights to do whatever you damn well please and you'll still have a full set of gear in a couple months time. That's also assuming you need a full set, If you only need a few pieces here and there, it will take much less time to get. Combine a weekly Kara run with a night of BG's every week and mix and match the gear to get a complete set in about 1/2 the time.
Blodpls.... Badges are a fair system to reward every one who runs the dungeon, before the badge system if you ran the dungeon and nothing dropped for you then that was that, now even if no loot drops that you need you still earn a handful of badges that you spend toward gear... the badge system rewards every one for running the dungeon. Its by no means a grind its the opposite it servers to lower the grind. |

It would take a lot more than a few kara runs. Here's some sample gear and how many badges the items are: Gavel of Naaru Blessings 150 I was going find a full set for a priest but cba. Anyway thats not even half a set and it's already 545 BoJ. So thats over 20 weeks of Kara for not even half a set. By the time you got a full set doing it via your method other people would be playing the next expansion. I know how much work it would be for a new player because I leveled a new character just before I stopped playing. To get to a standard suitable for 25 man would take a serious grinding effort. Fortunately my let me raid in rags, otherwise I shudder to think of grind involved.

Badge loot is not that much better then Kara loot, so the idea is you run kara, get a drop great, no drop.. dont worry you got 20 badges out of it, and the next time you run kara an item might drops thats better then badge loot, but dont worry your badges can now go towards a different item.. its win win. I dont want to get 20 badges and trade for a full set, I want to work a little for my gear.. its a balance blizzard has to get right, too few badges and every 1 is in badge gear and no one needs to run dungeons for badges no more.. too many badges and player dont bother. |

These badges are just a mechanism to keep people playing without having to deliver any new content. I've ranted enough about this so I'm not saying anymore, but I hope you can see why people complain about it, it's just laziness on the developers part and isn't gonna change whilst people still lap it up.

Originally posted by Blodpls You're missing the big picture. 20 weeks of Kara is like 60 hours of playtime with a good group. Kara only takes about 3 hours a week to complete. You can be doing a TON of other stuff in addition to Kara to get gear each week. You could easily do a few hours a week of BG's and get another 3 or 4 items from BG's in that same 20 weeks. Throw in a few runs of instances here and there and you could have some pretty nice gear in about 5 months of play time and that's only playing a couple days a week. That can be done by your average casual gamer very easily. Most people are complaining the gear is way too easy to get now. 20 weeks sounds like an awful long time, but when you start to break it down to actual time played and then you consider that you're getting like a new piece of gear maybe every other week by only spending a few hours a week on it, it doesn't seem nearly so bad. You want them to just allow you to get a full set in a week's time? Every single person in the game would have a full set of gear that way. You're also picking out some of the most expensive gear you can get for the badges. If you bought the following instead with your badges you would have only spent 220 badges which is 10 kara runs and you'll have 4 pretty nice items. Not as nice as what you picked out, but certainly decent gear. And lets not forget the gear you'll get from Kara. You can supplement this gear with the gear you will get from running the instance, you don't have to get the whole set from the badges right away. You can replace the gear with badge gear as you get enough of them. Quit making it out to be 2 or 3 times harder than it really is. It's very doable. Heck I've seen Priests come on 1 run with us thru Kara and pick up 3 or 4 epics. 3 or 4 runs and they have replaced their entire gear with epics either from drops or badge gear. You'll even get a nice little ring for the rep. That's 1 month of running Kara for a full set of epics. Wristguards of Tranquil Thought 35 Cowl of Naaru Blessings 50 Light-Blessed Bonds 60 Achromic Trousers of the Naaru 75 |
