Lord of the Rings Online

 There, just thought to post this as a counterweight to "i wantz 2b evilz racez" threads.

Personally I am happy with LOTRO, its lore and its implementation of PvP as a separate addition. I love it as a PvE game and plan to find PvP game to alternate with LOTRO. In short I don't have an urge to transform great PvE game into crappy PvP game, about the same way I wouldn't ask for a steak in vegetarian restaurant. 

I agree.  But, after logging in today, I took that survey which mainly asked about PVP.  I have finally found a game that I would like to stick with, and now I am nervous that they are going to change the game because of PVP complainers.  I guess that is my biggest MMO fear; after having it done so many times (SWG refugee) before, which is why it has taken me soooooo long to settle down in a game.

I wouldn't worry about them changing the game due to PVP. Tolkien enterprises is pretty dead set against anything that would be lore breaking from happening in this game. It  was a stretch just for them to get PVP into the game and get tolkien enterprise to agree to it.

There contractual agreement with tolkien enterprise prevents them from doing alot of things and world FFA PVP is one of them. I think this survey was just to get an idea of who actually takes part in monster play and if it is worth the time they put into expanding it.

PvMP is an amazing idea, and I really like it.  Dedicated PvPers can finally just log on and start PvPing.  No need to 'waste' time getting 50 levels to PvP, they can start at level 10 if they want, and keep up. 

The only people really mad are the people who like saying 'ha ha, I pwned you' because monster play really doesn't encourage that.

what's PvMP?

The PvMP of the game is completely separate from the PvE. As thus, you do not have to worry about getting steak on your salad. There is those that do like the PvMP (player versus monstor player), and for that, it will at least remain, if not expand. I do not venture to this aspect of the game, but on a rarest of occasions, but I do not see reason to request it removed. If it is for nothing else, it brings more to the game, and for that I am thankful.

At any rate, I would not even consider going into a vegetarian restaurant. Make mine med. rare please.

People who say pvp is violating the lore are idiots. Hello, thr books, the RPG, the PBM, all have evil fighting good. What part of that is hard to grasp? That simple fact would alow them to have pvp. But sadly, only carebears play this game, what a waste of potential.

only pvp they will have is PvMP thats it. and honestly i like it in a way lol pritty fun

to say that PVP is a lore braking is just plain stupid, the reason why they did not go for PVP is  because they found it too dificult and too  complex to create an evil leveling  sistem and storyline of quests that would mirror the LOTR books,,,

they never said it was imposible just too complex to bother

How on earth an orc attacking and fighting any of the  free people players is lore braking ?

well thats what they kept doing in hobbit and LOTR

If you Imagine that you are an elf fight an orc , so what does it matter to you  if that orc is being played by computer AI , or a player , In regards to Tolkien lore it is  still an orc ,,,

But what you might refer as lore-braking would be hobbits fighting hobitts , or elves v elves

but I am sure that  no Pvp fun  is asking for that extreme , just plain old good vs evil
