First off, I do not play anymore.  Secondly, it is NOT total crap.  It is a decent game.  I dont know if you were expecting some shiny gem at release or what.  But 400 thousand other current subscribers still think it is a fun game.  And as far as the "plane blowing up" that would be  a  FACT.  There are tons of people who like this game. Which would be OPINION.  And the "bad dining experience" is the same thing. OPINION.  I found a hair in a burger king burger once.  Did i sit outside the store and protest they have AWFUL food? No.  Same concept.

The point wasn't about boycotting, it was about telling other people what happened. I know damn well you told someone you found a hair in your bk burger at one point in time. It all has to do with experiences.

He just told US he found a hair in his burger.  Now I will never eat at Burger King again. Thanks for the heads up Sevensodd.

I was in there today also preordering War and was talking to the Owner of gamestop. His overview of AoC was that its the worst MMO he has ever seen and he's telling people to wait for War as well. Whats left of my guild in AoC is going to War since they cant take all the problems with AoC anymore.

Guess the hole Funcom dug at launch with its lies is collapsing on them.

"Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers.

Plain and simple, the game is not what I want(canceled yesterday).  Yes, it is a good game.  At least far from the bashings of it.  But, like WoW, it's just not for me.  Think of it as 1 person trying to defend something everyone else on the bandwagon seems to hate.  And much of those "bandwagoners" have never really played the game.  If 90% of the world HATED burritos, would you NEVER try one?  Im just saying at LEAST try it, a lot of people would like it.

This is kinda an oxymoron statement. You are defending the game you quit cause you didn't like it n then tell others to stop bashing it cause you liked it?

If 90% of the world hated burritos that means that they all tried it n hated em...so why waist my time n money on the burrito that has a 90% chance I will dislike it?

your guild will be very very happy in WAR !  i am whats referred to as an Elder tester in the WAR beta , what that means is i ( and many others ) specifically test end game content .

now please read that last line again every one .

Funcom deserves every thing they get and more . they are a shaddy company that sold AOC knowing full well it wasn't good , wasn't even remotely finished and was missing most main selling points for the game .

Tell me this, have you ever read a movie review?

Or recommended/warned people about a restaurant?  Looked at hotel reviews when booking a holiday?

Are you telling me these things are bad?

The problem is that you need to have an idea of what you are getting into before you spend your cash - because afterwards if you decide its rubbish, its too late.

"Pain is only weakness escaping the body"

I was a supporter of AoC for some time but I can admit that I was wrong.  Seems once you reach the level cap it's like hitting a wall.  There's literally almost nothing to do.  Here's life at 80 in vanguard errr I mean AoC:

1) Log on

2) Ask yourself "What do I feel like trying to do?  I can't craft level 80 items because my guild's city isn't high enough.  I don't feel like farming for hours and hours ( I want some action, I want to improve my gear and/or get some high level quests done)  Maybe I'll try to get an epic kheshatta group"

3)  Start spamming "80**** LFG >>> epic Kheshatta (add any other high level quest area as well) pst"

*note* this is where it usually ends and you log off, in the amazing chance you get a group....

4) Group forms up and heads to epic Kheshatta

5) camp is taken, move on to the next one

6) do step "5" any where from 1-5 times and then give up.

A harsh point to be made but it's all too true.  There are many things to this game that has so much potential!  This game can easily be lumped in with Vanguard as a "salvage project"  Yeah, maybe some day AoC will be a good game after they fix performance, gameplay, add content and such.  Age of Conan needs a lot of polish.  Just like Vanguard, I wanted this game to be great, I wanted to find a new home for the next couple of years and once again I was let down.

One can easily see AoC merging their servers, and going into damage control mode to try and stop the bleeding.  My guild was of a respectable size (100+ active players at peak) and as I sadly cancelled my account we were down to 4-5 people.  Some went back to EQ, some are giving LotRO a try and several of us are going to give WAR a go when it releases.  (lets cross our fingers once again)

As far as the argument "let someone find out for themselves"  I totally applaud the OP for steering people away from AoC.  I look at it this way, I have a good job so dropping 50.00 on a game isn't a big deal.  I buy a game, try it for a bit, if it sucks I move on.  That much money might be a lot for someone with a stricter budget.  Suppose you can only afford to buy one game every few months and the game you mistakenly choose is a game like AoC.  You install the game, log on and play for a few weeks and notice the community rapidly declining.  Or the perfomance isn't nearly as good as you had hoped it would be.  Now think how all that could have been avoided if someone was kind enough to share their experiences right before purchase.

currently playing: Warhammer (order - Volkmar)
games played: FFXI, WoW, LotRO
games tried: TR, VG, DAoC, GW, DDO, EVE, AoC many freebies as well!
waiting for: >none<

Ill say this as nicely as I can but who the hell are you to tell anyone not to do something? FC made this bed and now they get to have a nice little dirtnap in it.

And unless the OP is God then the kids still have free will. Well I guess he could be an evil anti-FC jedi using  a mind trick but hey, such is life

If he had said he told the kids how its the next best thing since sliced bread would you be as angry or are you a hypocrite when it comes to free thought?

Couple odd things about this post.

Your guild have 100+ active members, yet you had trouble finding a group.  That makes it sound like you're some sort of grouping leper.

"I can't craft epic items because my guild, with 100+ members doesn't have a high enough city.  I don't actually want to work on that city becoming high enough myself, I will let my guildmates do that for me, the same ones who don't want to group with me.... I can't figure out why".

You then go on to compare it to Vanguard, but you didn't even get a max level character in Vanguard, so obviously your beef with Vanguard was something different than your beef with AoC, which was high level content.

You've got a lot of max level characters in a lot of games, with closed accounts.  Seems like there may be something wrong here, besides the games.

Don't ask for whom the bell tolls, the bell tolls for you.
