NCsoft has announced their second quarter financial results, reporting sales of 78.6 million USD and a net income of 5.9 million  USD.

SEOUL, South Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NCsoft® Corporation today reported second quarter 2008 sales of KRW 81.2 billion (US$78.6 million), operating profit of KRW 8 billion (US$7.7 million), pre-tax profit of KRW 10 billion (US$9.7 million), and net income of KRW 6.1 billion (US$5.9 million). Compared to the previous year, sales rose 7% while the operating profit, pre-tax profit and the net income dropped 25%, 31%, 42%, respectively.

NCsoft announced that the increase in sales was due primarily to the shutting down of private Lineage® servers and the successful update of Lineage II Gracia Part 1. The drop in operating profit was due to continued investment, including personnel, in development studios across the NCsoft organization.

I am verry happy for them. I played Guild Wars for a long time and really enjoyed it. Glad to see them turn a profit again. I know they work hard.

Kinda wierd, they make enough in a quarter to make a World of Warcraft.  Yet they have had an operational loss last year.  I don't think investers appreciate it takes money to earn money.  If they were like other open companies who try and save money by not investing in new games, then they really wouldn't even be successful.

They are definitely one of my favorite companies. I totally love City of Heroes/Villains, Guild Wars and yes, even Tabula Rasa. I haven't tried the other games, though. Except Auto Assault and that wasn't too much fun.

Aion looks very interesting, but honestly, the ZERO development discussion on Guild Wars 2 is saddening to say the least.

If they would pump up the work on that game, they could make back the money Tabula Rasa screwed them for.

NCsoft publish Guild Wars, ArenaNet develop it. I don't know where you're getting your information from but development is well under way and release is planned for next year.

The fact there was no "DISCUSSION" was the key word. Aion is mentioned, Blade and Soul which came out of nowhere was discussed...GW2 was not.

Arenanet has already announced they will not be showing it this year. This says to me we may have a long wait to see the game come to fruition.

Sorry for the confusion of my meaning.

(PS: There is no "definitive" release date either, so saying "Next Year" is only a rumor at best)

The team have stated they expect release date to be sometime next year. To be honest I can totally understand the lack of information. It's a very good marketing tactic.

When they announced the game it was a HUGE deal. Magazines were scrambling for exclusive articles. Now they're letting things quieten down again so that they can once again release a load of information at once - instantly creating alot of hype.
