WAR (Warhammer Online)

to the OP, countless other MMOs?  Most of us on this site, especially MMORPG.com have played countless MMOs.  Although most of us respect your opinion, do remember it is not the end-all of opinions and everybody is entitled to theirs. 

I remeber the Blizzard boards during WoWs beta and there were 'countless' threads, just like this one.

If you played and loved DAoC, you need no explanation.

If you never played DAoC, no explanation will be good enough.

 

Let me also add if you think WoW pvp is RVR you are in for a shock when you find out there are few stragglers in battle. So don't think it's 1v1. It isnt.

I ll get on the agreeing bandwagon. If you played DAOC you ll know without a doubt how different WOW and WAR are. I remember a friend who played WOW religiously and vowed to play it forever. I said hey come try this out. He comes to my house as i m playing DAOC, i let him make a char and level up but he watched me play a keep take with my Skald.                                                                                                                                                                                             He then says ok teach me how to play the Skald. I show him for a better part of a day, then he takes over, groups up and we were on a Albion romp on classic cluster. We were after a relic which he had no idea about. Anyways within 10 minutes of the first keep take, he says to me, since you re in WAR beta is this anything like WAR. I say yep alot of similarities but some differences, for the better IMO. He then proceeded to play through even up to the RR. He then turns to me nd says i ll be right back. 20 Minutes later he shows me his receipt for WAR pre order and logs onto my comp to cancel his WOW account. Then takes over my comp to play more DAOC lol. Anywyas it won t be lik that for everyone but i think some can get the idea.
 

 

Great story, i have similar examples with folks that are now guildies.

I've also been reading these forums and I've noticed a few people who keep on posting comments like "it will rock your socks off" or "prepare to be engulfed in the most amazing game ever" or "this will blow you away" or "this will devour every other MMO out there"...... now either these people are old addicted DAOC players who live to play RVR (which is fine) or they've never played other MMOs.....

I mean I've got feelings... I like playing games... but there's nothing about this game that would excite me...

What are these elements that are supposed to rock my socks off?

I will sum up this thread with a single question.

So, I gather to commune with "ONENESS" you must have had a DOAC experience first?

From what i've seen your whole damn city is at stake... i'd say thats a BIG something to lose and/or gain. Seems most people are either uninformed or just don't seem to be thinking before they type =P

B:And "95% of all the fighting will be instanced"? All I can say is wait for tomorrow, so you can see just how wrong you are when you can actually, you know, see the game.

I agree.  No offense, but i can tell by the "95% of all th fighting will be instanced....."  that this person is not in beta.

For this person and OP, just wait a few more hours and the NDA should be lifted, and I am sure most of your questions will be answered.

If you would bother to read my post before responding, you'd realize that I've been in the beta for quite some time... and I've been struggling to find reasons to play it...

There are games out there that do EVERYTHING apart from the RvR much much better....

So apart from the RvR (which is basically zerg-fighting) what other reason do I have to buy the game?.... none?....
I've been asking and asking... and I can get no clear answers....

Many people who want RvR will play it... it's not a point of whether it's succesfull or not... it will be... many people will play.... however don't sit and talk about it as if it's the second coming of christ...

It's the best RvR game.... but on graphics/ PvE/ itemization/ world depth/ roleplaying elements etc etc there are much much better games out there allready.
