Hi I was just browsing around in EA's website, when I came across this little EA poll, it's down on the side bar menu on the right,(on EA website), anyway the poll was,

Which new EA game do you want?

Dead Space(tm).......came in at 92 votes

Mirror's edge(tm).....came in at 103 votes

Warhammer(r).........came in at 121 votes

Spore(tm)................came in at 959 votes!

# You get three total “activations”. This means the game can be placed onto three computers. This can be three different computers, or the same computer upgraded three times. Every time you try to run the game on what the server thinks of as a “new” system, one of your three activations is consumed. This means your relationship with the game is directly affected by how often you upgrade.
# Once the game is “activated”, you’re free to play for five days without hassle. After five days, the game will try to call the mothership on startup. If it can’t get through - for whatever reason - it will still let you play.
# After ten days since activation, if it still hasn’t been able to reach the mothership, the game will refuse to run. It will not run again until it can once again call home. Anytime it does call home and finds out everything is fine, the timer is reset and you have five days before it will attempt to connect again.
# If your serial number ends up on the web, it will be blacklisted. (Note that this means they must be trolling the warez sites and torrents. Which makes this entire charade even more ludicrous. They must know how quickly their games are cracked. This isn’t ignorance, this is willful delusion.) Next time the game phones home, it will… what? They aren’t really specific on what it will say or do if you’re using a banned serial number, but whatever it is you won’t be playing your game.

And for the record Mass Effect has been cracked, so this limited install system and multiple checks only screw over the paying consumer, like i always say.

Yep, EA is going to kill their titles with draconian copy protection like that.

NO WAY, would I purchase any game with restrictions like that, no matter how good it was.

I reformat my hard disk about every 6 months, means I would have to buy a new game to play it after 3 installs, give me a break.  EA is digging themselves into a hole they won't climb out of.

Looking forward to mirror's edge, not so much spore anymore. Hopefully they don't fuck up either one.

they will climb out of it.  its one massive hole though.  such a stupid system (its like they never even considered how people use their computers) and it was only a matter of time before things were cracked or the system was hacked.

I hope EA don't ruin Spore. Because EA has "The Sims" and I fear will try to convert a game into another.

Theres already too much  pink ponys, and lovable eyes on these screenshots and character creations tools. I am starting to feel the urge to hug a EA executive to dead.

Yea considering I am always formatting my computers, and the fact that I am always  switching Hard drives, Mobos, video cards and Os and building new systems, that sounds like total BS. We use computers, we tear them apart and we rebuild them these days.. If you pay for a game, you should be able to put it on any computer you use.  I too would not buy a game I could only use for such a limited time, I mean I get bored with what I have because they are always making new components..  So what if your computer breaks and you rebuild? You no longer get to play  the game you paid for?  I rebuild even when it isn;t broken.. it is sort of a hobby lol.

I bet most those votes came from all the EA minions that slaved away on that game.

lol yeah, honestly Spore is the last game on that list I'd play by a far margin, while the other three I cant wait for.

Dead Space is probably one of the funnest Survival Horror games I've seen

Spore? Bleh... besides the vid with Robin Williams, and sex-jokes that are made with its creature system, it looks boring to me.

Mirrors edge does sound like more fun than spore.   After all fully player created worlds eventually end up having 30 percent of their stuff being ick for a game, and another 60 percent being why the hell did the person publish that(please keep it in your own practice folders).
