Here's why, there's casual players still in the hype, they'll leave, there's hardcore players, who are totally into Age of Conan, there's the people waiting on Warhammer Online, they'll leave, and there's the people waiting on their subscription to expire, and they'll leave too, so this game will be declining real fast, but to be frankly frank (freedom), if the game gets out of the Xbox360 it'll survive, if it doesn't, ANOTHER SWG!!!

But, you ASSUME that 400k is the number NOW. This number was skewed from previous months, with data of users who were still in their 30-60 days, etc.

The consensus is when the next period ends (beginning of September sometime) that this number will be less. As well, I think we will not see "scrip" numbers anymore from Funcom.

PS: WAR will also launch and WILL sell more copies than AoC as well.

400000 what?

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

400,000 members, but yeah, it could be less.

"I don''t care! I''m gonna eat somebody."

From here

"Subscriber base is a fairly loose term which roughly means "People that might still be playing". You see, they fail to mention that in this 415,000 they're including anyone that still had their subscription active at the time of the report (15 August 2008). That means if you were unfortunate enough to subscribe for 3 or 6 months at the time you bought the game, you're included in this number. No one actually knows how many active players they have as they've not released any server metrics, with damn good reason."

"nerf rock, paper is working as intended."

400,000 was explained in July. In May they stated 750,000-800,000

Its almost September now. Im sure its about 300,000

800,000 to 300,000 is VERY bad for an MMO ..especially when its the first four months. If 300,000 is correct, they lost about 60% of their subs in less than four months. Even if we were conservatives to say its still 400,000, they lost 50% of their subs in 2 months.

That's bad and that is why people are saying AoC failed.

They included those still in the 'free' month and also you have to take into account those poor souls who believed it all and subbed for 3 months or 6 months.

There will not be a clear picture of the real remaining active subscribers until January next year and Failcom aren't going to release any more subscriber figures in the future anyway.

Also Warhammer will take customers away from AoC, they might return, but I think initially people will leave.
