Well I just got done watching the HD video for the 3rd time and this is what I think. The graphics are not great but not bad either, they are about average. The animation looked to be a little jumpy but I think this had more to do with the way the video was taken than the game itself but it may be a little of both. The game play was in a word.....AWESOME! The battles were fast paced with obvious manual aim and dodge. Not really a lot of coverage of the crafting system but that's to be expected in a video of this type. The only thing I was really disappointed in was there was not enough PvE coverage in the video. I was hoping to see some of this revolutionary AI they have bragged about but it really couldn't be seen in the few snippets of PvE that we saw. Oh well plenty of time to see that for myself in the beta. Overall a very satisfying video. Great work Aventurine!

Ugh i completely forgot to mention this...the ability to dodge projectiles!!!

Player skill meaning something again!!!!

And i agree with the lack of pvp, there were a few fights in there.  The zombie things and that big dual weilding knight thing comes to mind, but i wish i could have seen more.  But yea, beta please.

Entertaining video for sure. Graphics while not amazing are decent enough for a mmorpg. The animations were very stiff and unnatural though animations do tend to be one of the last things to get optimized. Combat looks intense and by that I also mean completely chaotic. Whether that's good or bad remains to be seen. What's with the hovercraft-like vehicles? While they certainly looked cool they felt out of place. I also wasn't impressed with how the buildings just disappeared under your feet as they get destroyed leaving you to fall to the ground. I also wished they would of showed at least some of the video from a 1st person perspective instead of all 3rd person. Overall though, I have to say the game at least looks fun and that's really what matters but I'll reserve judgment until we get some beta reports.

So, this is the fruit of a team working for almost 10 years? Not impressed at all:

1. Outdated graphics, jerky movement, unrealistic effects

2. Aesthetics (which are well obviously subjective) leave a very bad taste

3. Battles are a complete chaos: so far the best you have seen are battles with only 20-30 characters. Imagine fights with 10x that. There is a reason some games flag people as enemy or friend

4. In an attempt to justify the development stage, they gave something of everything: airborne vehicles (???!!!lol) ships that obviously need a lot more... etc..

5. In short: no scope, tries to make everyone happy (which is impossible) giving it 99% chance to fail

Needs a lot of polishing, still very far away from beta, looks as if its not a product thats supposed to hit the market, and even if they try for a launch this Oct as they call it pilot or whatelse, still very early beta

The graphics look fine, I think what alot of people are referring to are the animations, which indeed do need alot of work.

The animations really need time to be worked on. I mean, you cant just have objects disappearing when you destroy them - thats just silly and even I, who is willing to sacrifice gameplay for graphics, cant really compete with. This game definitly could use another year of development and another year of beta testing before it comes out. God knows how many bugs lurk in the game.

But - it isnt vaporware. Congrats DF fans, you got some good long footage on your hands.

HAHAHA!! I love the boat fight! ......Did you notice my sarcasm.  I am sorry to say this but they should not even bothered with the boat fights.   It made me laugh through the whole thing.   The ships sinking was stupid and when the shipped dissapeared.  There was just a circle flash and than vanish!  The cannons firing and the explosions need to be polished.  Really badly!   So they really did not pay attention to detail on that part.    I actually liked the fighting that was impressive.  I really liked the archers that was really cool.     I also really liked the landscaping and the building.

I have not really kept up to date with DF.  I actually do not pay attention to it at all.

*note*  They need to polish the crap out of this game before releasing it.
