How old do you have to be in order to qualify for being mature in your (OP's) opinion. I'm 22 and am yet to have a credit card and I have yet to recieve any positive feedback from credit card holders concerning actually having a credit card. The vast majority of people I know that have credit cards and are my age have incured vast amounts of debt (already) and are in the process of being bailed out by their parents. Please remind me how this show's their maturity. I think paying for things by credit card is to be discouraged... Anywho... rant over... now consider yourself a troll well fed. |

Even if you don't use it (meaning you could simply cut it up) you still build credit.
Or.... you just work and save up 10k for the down payment for the car and work for the 30-50k for the down payment to the house.....
Credit is for slaves.

One thing comes to mind.. Suck it! |
What the hell are you talking about, this is 2008 who doesn't use a debit card to purchase and don't even get me started about bad credit. Debit cards don't prove age just like a credit card doesn't, legally at 16 with parents consent you can apply for either or both. So you look deeper and you will see a lot wrong with that idea. |

I find it quite ironic that the OP is only 20. Maybe I am just older but I really do not see a difference in maturity between a 15 year old kiddie and a 25 year old kiddie except the 25 year old ones are generally louder and more obnoxious. But either way a 15 year old and 20 year old are both at least 5-10 years from the reaching the age of adulthood. |

90% of the world is ignorant.. The other 10% just don''t give a fuck.. |
haha..I actually found it a little "giggly" , which fails in its own right but earns a little lighthearted merit...
Umm.. My card doubles... as a credit card and a debit card.. its awesome.. But wait, pre-paid debit cards carry a major credit card logo right? Which means they can be used anywhere that card is accepted right? hmm.. I think i'm getting somewhere.. |

What on Earth would make you come to that conclusion? This is one of the reasons the economy is in the toilet (notice I said 'one of'). The housing crisis in America is partly from clowns living outside their means, mortgaging/refinancing their homes removing all equity to pay off high interest credit card balances, only to revert back to using them, and thus the cycle started over again, but this time, there's no money to borrow, and now the banks are foreclosing on homes and families are losing everything in the process. Go to school and get an education before ever thinking 'mature and credit cards' are in any way linked together. In my opinion, you've got it backwards. Being financially responsible normally shows maturity. There are always exceptions to rules. I just choose not to pay 19-22% on something I could have paid cash for. True story: I was told 4 years ago by someone that "You can't live without credit cards." They've lost everything since then, and while I've been hit somewhat by high gas prices and food costs, I'm doing far better than they are. In your world, they are more 'responsible' than me? Reality: Wrong, thanks for playing. |
