Seriously guys just let this shit thread slide down the drain..

LOL, no one has been able to say that its not just 3 big battles and thats it.

At end game, all you will do is fight over the same area over and over and over and over again.

Well.. there are 9 scenarios..

3 RvR areas..

that's 12 seperate things to fight over.

There are PvE dungeons, city sieging.

Oh, and there's some crafting..

Nothing any diferent than any other game out there. Excpet for Public quests.

That's a new concept.  Oh. and the fact you contantly fight over control points.  Look at the success of counter strike.  Same maps.. over and over again.  How many times can you play dust 2?  Right.. it's on 70% of the servers.

So, what water do you hold? None, just a troll looking for some bait.  Read what you want to of my post.  I hope one day, you get a life.

Quoting this guy as OP has obviously not seen this.

It worked for DAOC.

And what are subscriber numbers for DAoC like now? Anything new in the pipeline besides the Origins servers, which essentially rollback the game content to square one? A lot of how well Warhammer is received is going to depend on how quickly the devs are able to finish the content that should have been in at launch. Right now, I'm seeing a lot of promises, but little substance. The first month will be a telling one.

While your question is valid I must say that because few people play UO now, that doesnt mean that sandboxes are bad.

It's the same logic here.

DAoC has few population for a lot of reasons and many arent releated directly to RvR.  For example, not an easy learnign curve (not as bad as EvE ofc); you have to lvl to 50 alone because most people are in NF (just some at thid and molv but real few and the low lvl PvE zones are empty); non existant advertisement; PvE is required before you can compete in RvR (this is, imho, the most important reason why DAoC is empty now... ToA, crafting and all the other PvE xpacs killed the RvR focus that DAoC had at first).

Time kill MMOs too unless you are able to keep attracting new players (as WoW does)... but as time pass, it gets harder and harder to keep the new accounts bigger than the cancels.

When keep adding PvE content to an RvR game... making it almost mandatory to do it in order to keep being competitive in RvR... well... no, most RvR people doesnt like to raid for 16 hours to just get ML3.

I think (and hope) Mythic learnt from their past mistakes.  At least now we can RvR from level 1!!!  And you dont have to go PvEing just to be competitive in RvR. Neither you need to go around spellcrafting!!!

As you mentioned Origins is a go back to what DAoC was at first... well... they are just trying becuase it wont be the same... anyway, thats what attract so many of the actual DAoC players to it.

We just want to RvR.  We dont want to have to lvl 50 to reach end game, and then get to ML10, and then get to CL10, and then get artis, and then craft a template.

PvE is good in any MMO but the focus of WAR should stay in RvR and Mythic should not refocus it to PvE as they did with DAoC.

Think thats the point really, Ive spent the past 3.5 years in wow doing repetitive stuff. It is wearing very thin right now, I log on do a series of daily quests, join a few bg's to earn points to buy welfare epics.

(This on my rest days, being a shift worker).

Evenings, I sometimes sign up to raid black temple/mount hyjal on my priest. (Both raid dungeons suck and lack any epic nature the game had before).

The point is even with dull crap that wow has to offer its kept my interest over 3 and a half years.

I'm sure I wont burn out WAR's content in less than a month :P

I have read up on all the available material for this game and to me, it seems like its just 3 battlegrounds with some PvE stuff in the lower zones that lead you to the battles.  How long can someone constatly fight these battlegrounds before you say to yoursel.."ok, what's next?"

When I hear MMORPG I think about huge wide open worlds with tons of freedom to do whatever you want. I just don't see WAR fitting this model....

When was the last time ANY mmorpg reached this achievement?  The reason for most why the rvr will never get old is because it is constantly changing.  This is the beauty of playing against other people rather then an AI.

EvE.

Could i land on planets?

no i cant thus no not eve. Cause i wanted to do that but couldnt.

Planets and landing/building things there is coming though...  2009/2010 apparenlty

and it sounds yummy

Mark Jacobs tends to disagree with the op's setiment. They don't make an epic game like Warhammer and have no longevity, he has tons of stuff planned for the future of Warhammer and they above all things, want the game to be FUN. Go play something else perhaps?

Nice.

Anyway, EvE is repetitive too (anyone that played it for long time knows it). I like sandoxes too so I tried it some time ago. Amazing game, huge and deadly learning curve but after some months you feel like at home and enjoy it like a maniac, if you really like that kind of MMOs.

Its a great FFA PvP, with safe zones, complex economy and some other nice stuff.

In the end, this is not "which game is best". It's just in where each of us have fun. WAR is a RvR theme park game. EvE is more FFA PvP sandbox game. I like both. I will be playing WAR because I found myself having great fun in it.

Each of us should decide what to play... again I repeat (imo) this is not a competition on which game is best.

Btw, I am not really saying this to the people I quoted... I just quoted them because it was the last person to post and I wanted to say my opinion on the matter.

Obviously, the OP thinks he wont have fun in WAR so I think he should not play WAR. That doesn't mean he is right, of course.  Neither means other people wont have a great time at WAR for years.  ;)
