WAR (Warhammer Online)

1. Ryzom is back up for free at the moment.

2. Fallout 3 comes out 3 weeks after WAR is released.

3. Darkfall beta will SUPPOSEDLY begin in October.

4. The Chronicles of Spellborn and Runes of Magic seem to be right around the corner.

I hope the people that play it do enjoy it, but after the preview weekend (along with the above-mentioned reasons) this game just wasn't for me.  Questing seemed too linear to the point where after I finished quests in a tier I felt like I would never ever return to that tier for anything (just like a 'level' or 'stage' in some console game).  Also, the end-game seems like it will be lacking (not in content, but in mechanics).  The point of the game is to beat the other realm by going through a series of pvp tiers, but after you win it just resets.  If your side loses, you haven't really lost anything, and if your side wins, maybe you got a couple cool items.  Anyway, the point of this post, I guess, is that for people who were on the fence about this game, there are other options on the horizon.

Cancelling anything for Darkfall Beta that has not actually started is a little on the silly side.

Doing so for Ryzom seems like a perfectly fine idea although I did not really like the game.

I also have my doubts on the end game content as you have to capture a city to see the jewel in this games crown and with Mark predicting a few months before that happens, I hope it will be well worth the wait.

On another note, I had a blast with the open weekend and from being in beta the game only continues to get better. Also by the time people reach end-game, who knows what will be added in content.

I canceled mine as well.  I just couldn't convince myself to follow through after I've been enjoying my time much much more in FFXI and UO.  Nothing bad I can say about WAR - it has it strong points, it has its weak points just like any other MMO out there.

Why? you ask, because NDA is not lifted on this game and my experiences from beta were deleted because its against NDA, guess mythic don't like the truth being told.

Also, thank you for letting us know that you have cancelled your pre-order, this was a very important information for us who are hyped about Warhammer at the moment. We have to re-consider playing this game because you won't be there.

I can understand Runes of Magic as that game is going to rock but Chronicles of Spellborn?  I was in closed beta for about a year....game sucks bad guys...It will be a huge disappoint to many. 

 Im so happy that people cancel. Dont have to meet them ingame this way! happy!

Single player games.. I dont really like them over an online game, where you can be social.

I don't think linear is the right term.  But certainly it is tiered.  No seems of feels about it.  Mythic has made it quite plain the game is teired.

The reason you were on the fence, is because you want some kind of "sandbox" game.  As evidenced by you liking Ryzom.

I dunno I don't think you were really on the fence.  Seems like wishful thinking to me.  Mythic has made it pretty clear they are not making a world simulation game like Eve or Ryzom.

I don't think WAR was ever a real option for you.
