Ive got a Intel Quad core 2.4ghz 2gigs ram ati 4970
why is it takeing an hour to just start the newbie area... |

I assume you're vastly exaggerating when you say "an hour" because that's quite absurd. The worst load time I've heard of is ten minutes. My load time on a... AMD Athlon 3800+ (2.4GHz) single-core ...is two minutes for initial game loading, and less than a minute for any teleport. |

One thing to remember when laoding is slow is that lots of screenies can slow you down quite a bit; don't keep a lot of screens in your game folder as they will bog you down.....
(btw if Ryzom has been loading slow for the start you might want to check the heat sinks on cpu and gfx card for dust because loading times like that on a rig like yours, to me, indicate some kind of hardware problem...) |

Its never been the fastest loader around but 30 min. is realy weird. I agree with the above poster, that this sounds to me like a hardware problem. I´ve got 4 Gig Ram and only a dualcore 3,2 Core, but it loads in max. 2-3 minutes at start and teleports are done in about 10 seconds... Realy strange CU SaM |

if its really 30mins you seriously have something wrong with game/pc
I run 2 clients on 1 pc and they both take less than 1 min to load |

an hour? 30 minutes? 10 minutes? Are you all on a 56k connection??? My startup is about 1 minute, maybe 2 when i relog in FH, and portals/ tp much less.... Anyway, consider the amount of mobs, npc around. The game sure need some more time to load up compared to other empty (considering the enitites) mmos. But i cannot believe any player with a DSL connection can get 30 mins to load up.
