Since I really enjoy AoC combat system and animations and have just played to many games with the standard combat system.

How is it in warhammer? Is it boring/slow/repeatable animations?

if you are only interested in graphics and animation, stay with Conan. if you are interested in polished gameplay and fun, play WAR. most of the negative reviews are from peopl who only played 3 days and do not understand what the game is about. the combat is the same as WOW.

WAR Is Coming...

i gotta tell ya...last time in the PW and CB, WAR didn't have the new graphics settings they supposedly do now...however the game looked absolutely beautiful - especially when compared to AOC, and...i played AOC all the way from CB as well.

the thing for me is basically the landscapes and the feel of the graphics i guess...i mean yeah up close AOC armor on high settings has insane reflections - and the characters in general look extremely realisitic...however the game did not feel very "dense" or "whimsicle" in terms of whoo factor, especially in the forest like zones...the fact also that AOC is so small, zone wise, totally killed the immersion factor sadly and took away from the view distance/panaormic like settings...

WAR is very good in terms of all around graphics. everything on high settings, espeically the models and armor - look amazing for their style of art. the buildings, landscapes, and overall play areas are simply awesome and AoC and WoW with both be lacking in direct comparison in this apsect...

Amazing how both of you avoided his question.

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

You still haven't answered his question.

I think he should stay with AOC, because he loves AOC combat stsytem and graphic.  Warhammer isn't going to top that.

When I first played War beta, it's very slow for me because I was still playing AOC.  I will play WAR mself, because it's just more fun then boring AOC.

Let me start off with i couldnt stand AoC but I loved preview weekend in War so heres my thoughts.

I found combat in War to be faster and less boring than AoC, the combat still has some animations that go through a sequence but not nearly as slow as AOC. The combat is more balanced in that you can not 1 hit someone and battles take more skill with your character than sneak up and blast someone ganking in alot of games.

You dont have to hit keys like 2wdadd to get one sequence off in War which drove me nuts in AoC (too much time to do a move). Attacks are just hit 1 attack key wait to finish the animation hit the next attack key. There are no decapitation animations associated with moves either which after 15-20 levels in AoC was a real pain waiting for the stupid animation to finish intead of being able to attack the next target and continue combat.

Overall I found War to be a refreshing change of pace with alot of variety in both graphics and builds for the characters. They have worked on animaitons this week in beta and turned on the hi res textures but I'll have to wait till the 7th to see what it looks like.

If you really like AoC not sure what you'll think of War but you can download a beta for War from fileplanet to give it a try.

I love forum trolls...deep fried to a golden brown and served with a nice cianti :)

Going to play both....with a little LotRO on the side :)....I enjoy AoC and am not ready to give up on it yet, but War is a better choice than WoW

I've seen many people post that the combat is as you described.

I'm old and rubbish at games so it seems pretty hectic and exciting to me in RvR.

I really enjoy it. You may not. Only way for you to find out is to give it a try.
