Darkfall

A friend of mine says he has had some access to this game, and he says.

'This game is better than Age of Conan already....'

Well......considering some people would say "Pong" is better than AOC.  Not sure how to take this.

I am a Darkfall fan, and I haven't even played the game and I know it was better than Age of Conan before it was even a thought... because quite frankly, ANYTHING is better than Age of Conan

Easiest way to kill credibility. Thread is dead before it even lived.

This game will be a cross between Shadowbane and Dark and Light. Really the only amazing thing about Darfkall is how the devs have been able to keep stringing people along over the past 8 years. I'm still not sure why this game is even listed on mmorpg.com. It should have been long ago as vaporware/trash.

If the game was so great you'd think the developers would be all about getting the word out and building up what little credibility they have with players. Instead they release a bad youtube video and then send out an email about beta sign ups a week after the beta sign ups actually started. They can't even get simple stuff like beta annoucements right. Such fail.

Just look at their old forum posts and you see broken promises and missed deadlines all over the place. I'm not just talking about the big broken promises of past betas and release dates, but tons of little ones like missed developer updates and stupid stuff a developer/mod said would happen but then never did because of some lame excuse.

I'm still waiting to hear from one person who has actually played the game. Just one. I don't care that there's an NDA,. Rumors about games slip out all the time, but with Darkfall there hasn't been a peep. Kinda makes you wonder if there's even a playable version of the game out there to begin with.

Because the beta testers are payed testers which basically work for the developers for $. And in alot of places they have started not allowing things such as cell phones or anything that can be used to leak, Halo3 had this problem when a payed tester leaked gameplay from pre-beta with his cellphone. And this game is more or less a super UO on crack than shadbowbane/D&L. Besides, this is not the first MMO who has taken this approach to development and succeeded. Hell, almost all MMO's take this approach, read ur damn dev journals and watch ur dumb videos.                                                                                                                                                                                        You will see just about every feature listed in detail. And i am sure if they dont release vids before beta, they will release during beta/players will break NDA because open beta wont be payed testers, not to mention the flood of announcements about upcoming beta and the gameplay vid. Vaporware is not a valid statement anymore. It is time, They have there shiny polish to make the game all shiny, and they have a publisher to distribute the boxed copies and are working on distribution crap right now.

#1 How come this "vaporware" signed greek bank for 25million, released a new gameplay trailer+beta signups+ETA release date 2008.

#2 There was errors in the first beta signup, wich is now fixed. On top of that they decided to put out an email to all forum users. The forum users are their best fanbase for beta. About advertising it, aren´t you doing a great job for them ?

#3 These broken promises you talk of mainly consist of missed updates on the forums to the fanbase. This isnt a mayor fail to me and I dont go whine on other forums about it. As for realese date they only made 1 promise official all the rest where just estimates. Aventurines have made it clear in the past they only would make an official date if they where 110% sertian they could realese at that time.

#4 Err.. what you make of the gameplay trailer then? This is just some kid who sat down for atleast a year to do some "Vaporware" gameplay trailer? And no there isn´t a playable version of the game out there IT ISN`T REALESED YET! As for not a peep from closed beta testers i can honestly say that Im too are amased how they can hold it that tight without spilling some info or anything about it. But well Aventurine is a small company I imagine its easier in comparison to a large like Blizz

And you compare DF to D&L. Almost anything you say is wrong, so its hard to take you serious.

So basicly you tell me that you dont know the first thing about DF.

Several people from the DF community have visited Aventurines offices and have played the game and reported back.

We havent waited 8 years.

DF has very little in common with D&L.

Nice try though.

Why did this thread even get a single response?  Obviously OP doesn't know a guy who knows a guy who played DF, and this whole thing is an example of "just say no to drugs kids"
