anyone know if any estimated system specs have been given for the beta client?  I'm running a slightly older PC but I'd love to get into this game through TTH if I can find out if I can run the game first :X

Took this from the SGW wiki on this page

---

Currently the public plan is to release Stargate Worlds only on the PC. There are no definitive set of system requirements at this stage, and they are unlikely to be available till much closer till the release of the game.

It is expected that any current middle to high end PC will be able to run the game. Better hardware will result in a better graphics experience.

The team is using dual 3GHz Xenon CPUs with dual cores with 4 gigs of RAM 512 Meg Nvidia GeForce 7900 GT as their development platform. And while the game is currently being built for Windows XP, it will support Vista as well.

At this stage, whilst the devs would like to support it, no decision has yet been made regarding dial-up.

---

Sorry that that doesn't help much - but at least you know what that team is using. The wiki also says that it can run on not so great machines... so chances are you'll be able to run it. - however if you aren't sure then you could try the mmolecule.com contest or just sign up for the beta on the SGW website and hope for the best instead of paying.

If you know the stats as of now, please help out. But remember the NDA if you know them because your in the beta and don't post that that's why you know them.

Yea I saw that on the wiki, I was hoping someone would have a bit better of an idea though :( I'll probably subscribe and just hope for the best :P

Thanks for the help :D

That which does not kill us... usually messes us up pretty bad.

Well, I discovered that my slightly older system (which was fine for SWG, WoW, CoH/CoV, and a few others) was NOT gonna cut it with Age of Conan, so I assumed that it would not even be Close for SGW or STO [or BUFFY! Yes, Buffy MMO coming!].

What I previously used:

3 GHz P4 Intel
Intel mobo (865? FSB), just pre-PCIexpress
2  gig RAM
Radeon X1050 256mb vid card
SB Audigy sound card
250 GB Western Digital hdd
350W Pwr Spply

What I am building throughout this month:

AMD Phenom 9950 2.6Ghz (x4) 140W Black Edition (quad core)
Asus AMD AM2+ 790GX HDMI mobo (2600 FSB)
2  Radeon HD 4850 1GB Crossfire supported video cards
2  2GB G.Skill DDR2 1066 RAM
750 GB 3Gb/s Seagate 7200rpm
SB X-Fi Fatality sound card
800W Pwr Spply
Thermaltake Armor (VA8300) Tower (will have multiple 120mm fans and a liquid cooling system)

Is this an overkill? Maybe. But I like to build systems to last 3-5 years w/o needing major upgrades.
I built the first one listed in 2003. XP S2  - Dx 9c. This one will be Vista - Dx 10.

The new system (with a new gaming KB and mouse, and some blue cathode lighting, and the cooling system, and 5.1 surround speakers) will cost me about 1800.00 thru newegg.com

My previous system cost about 1500.00 thru newegg, 5 years ago. Both good investments, and better than storebought or prebuilt thru a custom site.

I strongly suggest, due to the leaps that MMO technology is making these days, you just build a new system. Max out as much as you can afford... or buy it in stages like me. A third this week, a third next week, and the last third in the last week of September.

(incase yer wondering, I already have a new monitor - hence my not mentioning it)

Cheers!

I agree with trying the beta and than building a new system if what you have isn't enough, though I don't agree with the specs that sevryn is going with (it's not bad, but by skipping all the lighting and fancy case and pointless soundcard and stuff you can spend $500 less and get something even better, including a 24" monitor).

As with  most games, you can turndown the visual options, and that should allow you to play it on a slower computer. Just bear in mind they might not have everything visualization controle wise ready when the beta 1st comes out...

I would venture to guess if your computer is at least a dual core 2.5 gigahertz you should be able to play it just fine, just make sure you have enough memory.  non 64 bit systems cap out at 2 gigs memory, 64 bit non vista systems I would suggest 4 gigs, on a vista system, 8 gigs of memory

Oooo...an amd fan.

^^

instead of 4850 crossfire it would really be worth it to get the 4870x2 instead. the performance of the x2 really blows the 4850's away. 2gb ddr5 owns.

you can't use hybrid crossfire with the 4000 series cards. using  ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe motherboard would be a stronger choice, it has 2 x16 PCI Express 2 slots. Most GX boards have either dual x8 slots and limited overclocking potential.

Get Water cooling. you can push the Phenom 9950 prob to 3400, and the 4000 series to near 900 core speed.

A 4gb Corsair 1066 is very cheap now 149$
