Hi, After years of avoiding MMORPGs, I discovered Mabinogi and fell in love with its world, its graphic appearance, and in particular, its model of gameplay, i.e. that it's not turn-based but realtime. I thought I'd probably continue playing it as long as it was available. But this weekend, Nexon pulled something more reprehensible than I could have ever imagined. They are holding a "Back to School Event" in which everyone's character has become 9 years old. I am not into chibi, I do not care for the tiny look, I find it to be a violation of my taste in visual aesthetics. One so bad that I can't even bear to remain logged on. This event would not have offended me if had provided an opt-out other than "just don't play during the event." During the time I've been playing, the only other event they've hosted that affected everyone was a double-experience weekend, done to compenstate players for a rollback in which many characters lost items and experience. if for any reason you'd not want to be affected by that, you could at least still log on and chat with your friends. The only real downside of double-EXP is that when it goes back to normal after the end of the event, for some, it's like going through withdrawal. So I'm looking for a replacement. It wouldn't have to be fantasy-based, the theme almost doesn't matter. It could have more realistic graphics, but not less (I like Mabinogi's anime look). But it would have to provide the same kind of real-time gameplay and interaction with other players that Mabinogi provides. But most importantly, either by virture of its theme, or by a more sensible marketing strategy, it would need to never host an event that players couldn't opt out of. I'd appreciate any recommendations of other MMORPGs that might satisfy my stated requirements, or any comments for that matter. Thanks in advance, "The Real" BeanyBoy |

While I am waiting on a certain issue resolved with my video card and Mabi (it's actually nexons fault wee!) I've been playing Perfectworld international. Figured why not. Try that out. |
