WAR (Warhammer Online)

Disclaimer:  I am a fan of Warhammer concept and am totally sick of WoW.  On that note, here it goes.

Character creation:  First thing I noticed when looking at the char models was that they where unimpressive.  OK..so a game doesn't have to look perfect to be fun so I will ignore that for now.  The actually character creation was also disappointing.  Not a ton of variety,  I think nowadays you should at least be able to make em fat or skinny, tall or short *shrug*.

Entering the world:  Here is the exciting part, Entering the world for the first time.  So I log in and bam, this world is bland so don't expect to log in and it to be eye candy.  Regardless, It's still good enough to play.

Community:  Ok, this is where the game is going to fail.  The whole day playing, I saw one person speak and that was while doing a public quest together.  I am not sure if there is a "general" chat that I was missing or not, but if this is the way its going to be...ppl will eventually run back to WoW.  I hope it was just an off day or something and when the game goes live, the community and chatting will pick up.  For now though, it's a big F.  Also, I was on Tyrion which is one of the biggest servers.

Gameplay:  Everything spawns fast so you dont have to wait for kills.  The quests are simple but fun.  I think they did do a good job from what I have seen and with the public quest, it seemed fair for all that participated.

RvR:  I didn't make it down to rvr because  I was having a hard time finding it and of course no one answers your questions when u ask.   By the time I found it, I was already tired so I will try again tomorrow.

Music:  Umm..who did they hire to do the sound.  enuff said.

Characters:  I played a white lion to lev 6.  They are real fun but still seem to have a bunch of issues with the pets.  I kept losing my pet every few minutes whether from getting stuck or running off and the pet commands like attack or follow seem to be slow in responsiveness.  I also tried a Warrior Priest, they are fun but remind me to much of a paladin which i never got into.

Anyway,  I do plan on playing since I waited so long for the game.  I am sure I will adjust to it given time and as  I get higher, I will add to my review.  This is just from a noob perspective so I can't speak for the higher content.

 You couldn't find the RvR? use the map? or the war icon in top rite.. jeez even i know that and im not in the beta yet.

Every person that posts on these forums puts the game down for the most pathetic reasons, amazes me really, how picky some people are.

p.s. i would never go back to wow, i played for 4 years, quit around may last year, that game is a complete grind fest, don't know how anyone could go back to it.

OP just got raped?

The game suffers from the same shallow feel as DAoC (since it is DAoC2). Don't get me wrong its fun and I've got a pre-order but the PvE is very shallow and people wanting a PvE game wont play past an hour. RvR is fun as hell, they hit the nail on the head and I will be permanently RvRing and just PvEing to balance out the RR lvl caps. That graphics update better be immense caus the current graphics look like they used the DAoC engine.

Btw I found the combat and gameplay overall to be excellend, although bland the PvE is clear and well structured, combat is smooth as hell and lag is minimal on a new but not top spec pc.

I'm really not sure about playing a healer tho, the RvR dependance on healers is off the charts and people just whine constantly.

Not really... Music is a huge part of immersion (for some people, thus a valid argument.
 

Graphics cannot possibly get much better, as we will be able to use our beta clients in release. Yes, I fully understand there will be a patch, but honestly, how much do anyone not being ignorant think the graphics can change... (Myself, I have no problems with the graphics, but being realistic is good for you).
 

That he should join a guild, I agree. However during beta I haven't encountered a lot of people bothering to interact with each other. But that's the norm of MMO's today and I guess people are busy rushing through the content at this point.
 

Yeah, read the quests and open the map ^^.
 

Again, if you believe that there's a miracle patch which will fix all bugs and remedy the sloppy graphics you're not being realistic. Bugs is a common "feature" of MMO's, as the games are often way to big to find all bugs during betas. This will be fixed along the way and Mythic is already doing a good job.
 

Terrible grade of OP's review though, narrow minded, "fanboyed" and a tad to "internet tuff boy" for my taste.
