You know somethings wrong with a genre when the good games are 4-5+ years old.

I'm getting frustrated with the lack of quality games in this genre.

In every game I played there is always some flaw that bugs me so much it makes me leave.

I know i'm not the only one that feels this way, I know that others are waiting for that one mmo that's going to knock this genre on its ear.

Can we survive the wait? when this game does finally come will we even care anymore?

I hear you man, and I 100% agree.  It's really sad that the professional game developers can really fail a genre this bad, with most of them caring more about chasing WoW's player base than actually making a good, original game.

If we all had the very same idea of fun, there wouldn't be a need for all of these games.

I know what you mean! I tried WoW, but it's a waste of time. Darkfall looks pretty good. You actually have to aim your attacks, so it takes more skill. Full PvP and loot. Players can build ships. Players can build cities. You can use actual military tactics, due to coliesion tactics.

The game should be released by the end of 2008, and the beta signups have started (www.darkfallonline.com/beta).

Your options are:

Be less picky

Make your own "perfect" game.

Find something else to do.

Wait, probably in vain.

I sympathize but you're asking a lot for someone else to make a game you really like without your input.

You seem to be chasing perfection. There's always going to be "some flaw", that part's unavoidable.

A lot of that excitement came from a new genre, not from the games themselves. They've basically done away with the micro management aspect of older games.  I'm sure someone will bring it back, successfully... We are basically in generation two, slowly moving into gen three of this genre's evolution. Something has to change soon, its inevitable.

And you are not alone.  Many people on this forum feel the same exact way you do.

And it's really sad that people who haven't liked a MMO in 5 years still hang out in a MMO forum, doing nothing but complain.

it's beyond sad.

My favorite genre is the dungeon keeper genre. And there have only been 3 games in this genre, DK 1 and 2 and Evil Genius. And no evil overlord does not count.

But do I sit and complain for 5 years? No I moved on. There is nothing I can do about it other than make my own. Which I may do some day.

After 5 years you need to except the fact that the kind of game you want isn't gong to be made, and you need to move on.

There is so much wrong with this mentality that I don't even know where to begin...

I'll just say that I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna settle for the boring crap that has been vomited at us for the last 5 years when I know so much better can and has been made.
