Aventurine has said that gear is not, and never will, be important, like WoW, DF will not be gear-dependant at ALL, it will almost completely skill based, although it's nice to have armor, armor makes noise, I mean really, is your enemy more likely to hear you creeping around in leather, or you going CLANK, CLANK, CLANK in some plate? I believe that the armor wil be balanced, but some really powerful enemies (a dragon for instance) will drop stronger gear, though not enough to kill someone with 100 skill (the max in any single skill) and no armor, if you have say 25 skill, though I'm not sure what the scaling will be in regards to that...

Wrong, I won't believe one word from the developers mouth commenting that gear won't play a big role in pvp. Funcom developers said the same exact thing, Mystic - Warhammer said the exact thing and I was pwning everyone in that game because I had ubber game by my side. If you gemmed out a warrior then you're invisible, and tier 1 I rolled nubs with level 10 gear.

I heard Darkfall will have gemming sockets hmm coincidence?

Of course the skill system will play an even bigger role. When you've obtain that pwnage plate set of dragonslaying along with those 100+ skills, you're going to be a mean motherfucker that'll ass rape everyone and will eventually become an asshole griefer that would steal anyone's shit regardless.

Darkfall ceo is a retard! Who wants to lose his hard earn equipment? No one does! This is why I'm making this petition to save Darkfall from a miserably failure because No ONE PLAYS a player looting game nowadays. The player-looting era ended with Runescape that game is horrible due the fact its pvp was player looting type. I play mmorpg for progression and my progression means alot to me and many other people aswell, neither they or I want to lose my equipment to some asshole!

I want Darkfall to be a successful mmorpg, but the approach Aventurine is taking will only lead Darkfall to its failure!

Hmmm... If you played Darkfall your ultimate epic  weapon would be, Vagina of Recieving Truth.

Fits you perfectly...

I have absolutely no intention to play DF.  In fact, I still thinks it's vaporware and I will continue to say it's vaporware until it is actually released.

But, if DF is released, it should be released as the hardcore game it is advertised to be.  Full FFA PvP and full loot.  In the current competitive MMORPG market environment, it will not survive by compromising with the mainstream crowd of players.  It needs to focus on that niche market of arrogant, bitter, elitist, hardcore, socially inept, teenage gankfesters that will love and support the game like it is the greatest achievement of human ingenuity and creativity.

There are too many games to nurish the mainstream crowd.  A watered down DF will never be able to compete against the WARs, WOWs, LOTROs, EVEs or other dozens of P2P and F2P games currently flooding the market.

It needs to set itself far apart from the rest and cater to its niche market and reel in the strays disenchanted by mainstream MMORPG tastes.

so we're arrogant because we don't want to play a piece of shit game like Wow or War that everybody is the same, takes no skill, and has pre-pubescent 10 yr olds running around saying 1337.

You can "not believe" it all you want , this isn't some start  to "end game" level based loot game where you work your way to max level for uber raid loots, its a faction based FFA full loot pvp game where gear wil mean somethign yes , but  very litle compared to the players skills .

Stop draging up all these "new age' mmo's like aoc/war or even older ones like  eq2/wow , none of them were even released  when the DF team started this game . You want something to look thats close to what this game is about  then go look at Original UO/SB/AC Darktide   thats is the heart of this game it was developed from the very first days of the game to be FFA faction based full loot mass pvp . The game has always been about a hard gritty dangerous world , no safe zones no /pvpflagg  no alt ruleset server  just DarkFall.

The game is in the closing stages of release development , even if  for some crazy insain reason they suddenly changed their mind and decided to make a easy rule set server with limeted looting and pvp flagging and all that stuff that was never entended for this game , i dont think they are going to make any major changes to the this late in development .

Maybe after the game has released as it was ment to be , then they might think about making an alt rule set server to attract the mmo market/croud  that they were never aiming at or making the game for in the first place.
