So I'm one of the apparently many Collector's Edition pre-orderers that got screwed over. Mythic ended their grace period, the period you can keep playing after the head start while you wait for your copy of the game to arrive, after only two days.

It was later extended a bit longer for certain retail customers, but for those that bought the game from bestbuy, and two other retailers, we've been unable to play since the 19th. Mythic says the game was shipped on the 16th and was assured by retailers that it was on its way to us by the 17th.

However, it was only today, the 23rd that I got an email from bestbuy saying that I'd get my game (in theory) by the 26th!

I know EA is known for its terrible customer service, but I'm dissapointed by Mythic. The whole reason I bothered to pre-order the collector's edition ($80) was so I could play form day one with the promise of the "grace period that will allow pre-orders to play till their copy arrives in the mail" - paraphrased quote from the pre-order FAQ.

Now, ea and mythic are treating some of the best and most loyal customers like crap. I put in a good amount of time and effort into the closed beta to help mythic make a great game. I'm so glad to see they've got our backs.

What's worse is that they didn't tell us this would be happening. They just ended the grace period causing a huge outcry and backlash. The outcry was so bad, that the mythic customer support phone line was busy for days last week. They now have a message forwarding all traffic to ea's customer support phone line because of this.

The only help I got from the ea representative, after waiting for half an hour on hold, was a suggestion to buy ANOTHER copy of the game so I could enter the cd key an play today.

I was calm and polite with the rep but told him thats the last straw. I'd be calling my bank to void all charges and wouldn't accept my game when it finally arrived. I didn't shell out for the Collector's Edition to just have to buy another copy of the game to keep playing while I wait for an extremely late delivery.

Sadly, I suspect this is what ea and mythic are banking on - that players who want to play now will pay to play now, despite promises that the grace period would cover them. I finally got a $20 coupon at ea's online store, which I'll use to buy a game card later on.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to share my experience with others on this forum as I know there are thousands of other players out there in my shows.

A mythic rep herself said so on the warhammer alliance forums :)

Yeah, I used to hate the game because of NGE as much as anyone, but I've been playing the game since Feb. 2008 and have honestly had a good time. If you hate the game, fantastic, move along. Its all been said before and your continuous griefing just makes you look like a sad individual with nothing better to do.

Mythic cannot compensate for every retailer's blunder.  Expecting them to is pretty selfish.

Oh?  Its not the retailers fault that they did not tell their customers when to expect the game?  Its not the retailers fault that you did not receive the game when you should have? 

I bought my CE from Amazon and got it on the 16th.  As a side not, never preorder games in stores.  Buy them from an online retailer and spend the extra money for overnight.  Then you will get the game when your supposed to.

Sorry that I wasn't clear, it was a long post.

I already filed a complaint with bestbuy and will no longer be a customer with them.

What aggravates me about Mythic is the way they arbitrarily ended the grace period after only two days, and then extended it for some pre-order customers, but not all.

If it wasn't for the promise of a grace period, I wouldn't have paid the extra amount.

Mythic is defaulting on a position they advertised as part of the incentive package to buy the CE.

well now I realize that Aion is gonna be it and this game, gonna get popular, gonna turn out like another WoW with people flaming it on the forums

For all the people getting burned by EA.  Two words "Battlefield Vietnam".  History teaches us *great* things. Do your research next time you want to buy something from a company.

Canceling a MMO subscription and posting about it, is like voting for an American president. It doesn’t mean shit unless > 50% post about it and *actually* cancel.

Haha yeah, if it wasn't warhammer, I wouldn't buy it. I hate EA. They lost my business long ago.

Bestbuy screwed shit up. No surprise there. Retail stores do this shit all the time. When you order stuff from them and they say it will take a week to get it can take everything from a few days to a month or two. So many unserious actors out there and to be honest, I haven't heard all bed and roses about Bestbuy. Instead order the stuff online or directly from the producer.

On a similar note, we got a retailer similar to Bestbuy here in Norway called Elkjøp. They do this shit all the time, and for gods sake, dont ask the idiots working there for help. The lines are insane, the wait an hour or more and the service beyond shitty. Only thing they got going for them is that they are cheap. The cheap items the only reason people use that store cause everyone I know, and talked to hate shopping there.
