I don't think I've seen any discussion about this MMO on these forums (it doesn't have it's own channel either) so I decided to help spread the info and maybe get more people interested in this unique project, it is almost fully done by a group of cooperating developers (although I'm unsure how the whole system works).

The basic premise behind the game is that you are flying a spacecraft across the Universe, the Milky Way, and can explore billions of planets going whereever you please. The basic systems are still not completely known but we do know it's going to be twitch (no cooldown timers) and like Eve you will be piloting spaceships. I believe there is a skill-like system but I am not completely sure how that is going to work, there is still a lot of information that is unkown to the public. And I do not know how the game is going to be setup, I've heard that it is a persistant world (you will be able to change the face of planets, adding stations and the such) but how that will happen is unkown to me. I can't see this game working without some sort of instancing system that works similary to Eve and even then I can't see how lag will not become a problem later on. But the one thing I can say for sure that planets and space are not instanced, there are several videos showing "take offs" and "landings" which are extremely impressive. I suggest all that are interested check out the Physics, motion blur and asteroids ring video. I'd zoom past the beginning part just to see the end where they "take off" and land within the asteriod field that orbits the planet. That certainly will be a standout feature of the game.

Oh and the Milky Way galaxy will be "to scale", if that is even remotely possible...

And please no "Eve rip off" posts, because if you read anything about the game you'll realize it is almost nothing like Eve other than Space.

Seems much more like Jumpgate than it does EvE. Heard this game mentioned a few times, and have just had a brief read of the site and forums.

From the looks of it Infinity is Jumpate with a randomly generated universe and the ability to land/build stations on those planets.

If the world is going to be entirely randomly generated which the site seems to imply I think it will suffer from the same fate as every game that has randomly generated content, lots of it will look the same.

I seriously doubt a world as big as they claim is seamless, with a real time combat system. More likely it is like WoW where the world is split up into zones but the next zone preloads before you enter it, giving the illusion of persistance.

Ill keep an eye on it, but the reason I havent been following it is it started development only recently didn't it? so its probably a long way off.

edit: I missed the bit on the site where it says its made by 8 developers, erm I probably wont keep an eye on this game. Good luck to them, but it is unlikely 8 people could make a decent game, let alone a decent mmo.

looks like a decent game. i'll definitely give it a try once its released. i had no clue it even existed, so thanks. and yeah it does seem like it could be a lot like eve, but i won't knock it til i try it. though i don't know how long it will be til its released as they didn't give any insight at all on a possible beta or full release.. only that you have to be an active forum member to qualify for the beta "when it's time".

well i would not rule out the possibility that because 8 devs are working on it that its not worth a look. if you look at the videos, and the possibilities, it might end up being the thing we have all been looking for in a MMORPG.

8 devs does not necesarely mean bad game, it may mean very good game, that will take longer than usual for release.

This is another reason why I put it out there. Just to stir up some support. This game so far sounds a lot like Darkfall in many ways, including what I bet will be a very long development time.

Sure it has it's own forum right here. Just because it's not on the list on the left does not mean it's not here. DARE TO BE DIFFERENT! (It's in the drop down menu at the top of every forum on this site ).

I have been keeping an eye on this one as well. Not sure I like the fact that there wont be any avatars but the planetary landings may well make up for that. Definately one to keep an eye on.

I am really enjoying Spore and feel this MMO might come close to it in many way's, also already keeping my eye on this game for for a coulpe of years now, just occasionaly spotting some info on it here and there.
