I have a serious question. You all claim DF will be so great because of the FFA PvP, full loot, skill based features. Well my question is, why aren't you guys playing Eve Online then? It seems that almost everything you guys are asking for is already available in Eve, so I'm curious as to why you guys aren't playing that game? Or maybe you are and are still waiting for DF, I dunno.

A lot of the Darkfall fanbase does play eve.  I tried it, but wasnt really into the space scene, prefer fantasy.

im not really sure how this is confusing...but while eve shares a similar gameplay idea with full loot open pvp...it is still an extremely different game.

very simply...it is a completely different drama in sci-fi rather than fantasy.  i dont know if sci-fi is the accurate description, but you know what im getting at.

the combat is extremely different, the "world" and your character couldnt be more different.

yes they share full loot pvp....but they are still extremely different games.

edit: i also play eve casually since it allows for that...have about 11m sp and just log on to do some yarring from time to time and its good fun, but just isnt 100% for me due to the setting.

Same here.

I wan't to fight a pixel fantasy character not a spaceship in outer space.

I want forests to roam through and mountains to climb. Seas to travel. Dungeons to explore.

EvE and DF is as Imbant says, two totally different games.

Yes, they are completely different play styles, but I never see anyone praising DF for it's fantasy theme, or it's characters or world. Everyone seems to be clammering for FFA PvP, full loot, and skill based. Perhaps the other parts are just implied to these users.

I suppose a major reason I have less appeal for DF is that I don't care for Fantasy very much and think it is way over done.

For me and im sure a LOT of other people ,  its because they are not even close to the same type of game . EvE is a  SciFi Space flight mmo , DFO is a Mideval/fantacy  sword and sorcery type mmo .

My self i dont get into anything too SciFi or futuristic realy , i prefer stuff like EQ/Daoc/SB  etc etc type settings in my MMorpgs .

I don't play it because it's point and click, if you could control your ship Elite style I would play it.

EVE was not really interesting to me.  It was more like an interactive screensaver than an actual game.  Sure it has one of the best ingame economies around, it just wasn't fun.

If DFO can bring everything to the table that they are promising it will be a kick ass game.  But for now I will remain sceptical and hide in the background.

I left EvE long ago because I found it boring.  No, I am not saying EvE is a bad game.  I think it's a great game.  I just found it boring for me.

I will add that EvE is not a FFA PvP anymore, it has lots of safe zones.  Neither is really full looting (clones).  And it's a space game... not a fantasy one.

And I didnt like much the concept of leveling skills while off line.  But thats me.  I know many people that play EvE and like the concept.

I mean EvE is not exactly what DFO promises to be.

So you don't support any safe zones at all? Sounds like a person that only wants to pick on weak characters to me. And how do clones not make it full loot? You blow their ship up,  you can take whatever they had that wasn't destroyed. How is that not full loot?
