Stargate Worlds

I kid you not, from what i have seen and read, this game will leave all other Sci-fi MMORPGS for dead. It will be the last nail in the SOE SWG coffin. It will be what Tabula Rasa should have been and it will set the bar so high that Bioware will have to really work their magic to compete with a possible KOTOR Online.

This game will appeal across a broad spectrum of players, not the least including:

Stargate Fans

MMORPG Fans

Sci Fi Fans

FPS Fans

Role Playing Fans

It would not suprise me that the subscriptions will  head into the millions and it will take the world by storm, followed by a new show (Stargate Universe) and new movies (Stargate Atlantis).

 I actually have to agree with you.

Those things that I've read and seen from the game it's awsome! Beeing a Stargate fan it's even more awsome since doesn't continue the story after 10th season but it's in btween the seasons where the series had it's peak!

One thing that's really interesting is the non-combat classes, scientists and archaeologist, it justs sounds awsome. I've always wanted to focus on beeing a great craftsman or done less fighting in every game I've played, that's why I loved Starwars Galaxies, too bad World of Warcraft failed with this badly, the crafting just purely sucks even thouhg I played it...

One other thing is that you're able to play the bad guys from the series. Which is positive since I thought you were only to play as humans.

I can't wait untill it gets released! The waiting...

I do hope so. I'm an avid fan of the franchise, and would really love to play in a good, successful SG game. What I've seen so far is indeed promising. However, we all know previews and the like can be deceiving. I personally would be happy if SGW is even moderately successful; However I desperately hope to be pleasantly surprised.

I hope so, but I am worried. All we can do is take hints on what is coming. They hiped a flame thrower.

Game looks good on paper so far, I think you have to be a little more realistic though, millions of subscribers? As in at least 2 million? That's a bit over the top don't you think?

Only WoW and L2 have reached those numbers off the top of my head.

I'm with you Burdock.  You called it for sure.

This game has something for everyone. Easy to learn difficult to master, and the combat system is unbelievable.  A great story line, unique gameplay, great way to travel, and plenty of mini-games set this apart.
There is a huge amount of people waiting for a GOOD SciFi game and there is a huge amount of Stargate fans waiting for this game.

Put them all together and you have millions of people playing this game.

And I'll be one of them!!!

I'm curious how you guys can say the combat is awsome, easy to learn hard to master etc. Have you played the game?

I mean, are you predicting "millions" of subs based on anything concrete?

EDIT: I mean "millions" is better than anything besides WOW and L2 that's been released. Seems a little over-zealous dont you think?

doubt, same boring combat except going behind a wall shields you OoOOooOOOoOOooOoo amazing stuff there!!!

still non cannon looking items, regular BS leveling nonsense, and same "priest tank rogue mage" type classes...notice i said TYPE classes...

Sure, SGW will be awesome, but only if they deliver on their claims of a newer more innovative combat system and such. I like what I see so far, and if they keep it up, yes they have to potential to be the "Sci-Fi WoW". We have to remember, they aren't even in closed beta, so a lot could change between now and release, for better or for worse.

I wish forum trolls would stay away - thankfully, the genuine SGW community is nothing like this one. We are one of the best community's around, which goes to making the overall gaming experience better. When you have negative communitys like WoW, AoC and WaR - it really brings a game down, if people dont like the game, for whatever reason, then DONT PLAY IT!

I accept all well reasoned constructive critisicm from educated guesses at this stage (it hasnt even entered closed beta yet) and no game is perfect, certainly not WoW, SWG, AoC and not even WaR.

This post is comparing apples and apples, putting this game up against its direct competition, being Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online and Star Wars Galaxies. And I must say, even in it's pre-closed-beta form, it kicks them all.
