I take 0 credit for 95% of these fixes. Feel free to add more fixes. I will add them into this post.

Before you start tweaking:

1. Run a full up to date virus scan. (If you need a good free one, download AVG anti-virus).
2. Run a full up to date anti spyware scan. (For good free ones download spybot and ad-aware.)
3. Download up to date drivers for everything video, sound, etc. Video is the most important one though. It is HIGHLY recommended that you DE-INSTALL drivers FIRST. Then proceed to installing your new versions

4. Defragment your hard drive(s).

Let the tweaking begin:
1.
read this link to fix nvidia card settings

http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=110288

These fixes are located under user settings file.

2. If you want increased FPS in the game (if you are one of the unlucky few who have FPS problems) just go to your WAR directory and go to the user directory. In the user directory there is a file called Usersettings.xml, edit that file and edit one of the perfcustom 1 or 2 lines, change lightmaps to false and Specular to false, keep everything else the same (highest even).

Now boot up the game and go to user settings, change to Custom 1 or 2 under graphics settings (whichever one you changed in the usersettings.xml file), Wallah! FPS increases across the board. Trust me every friend that plays and most people on here or elsewhere have said it fixes their issues. You can also alt tab back and forth fine as well. Try it out and enjoy the FPS gains.

3. Open your USERSETTING.xml file and under Custom 1, its a couple lines down,
Change:
textureCache="1.00"

And modified it to:
textureCache="3.00" or 4 or 5 depending on your card.

so if your card has 768 try "1.5" "1.25" for 512. I think 1.00 is for 256 meg.

Try a couple different values slowly increasing the number but Id try the baseline #s right above this line first.

4. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT ONE:
buff refresher add on, DOWNLOAD THIS:

http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/13745/

To install this AddOn, simply create an "Interface" folder in your base directory, and an "AddOns" folder in the newly created interface folder. Unzip addon into "AddOns" folder.

5. Install this too it changes your party and raid interface and cleans it up, reduces lag:

http://war.curse.com/downloads/details/13730/

open up warparty window after installing and uncheck parties if the old format is showing up.

In-Game Tweaks

1. Also, on the subject of user interface performance, if you start experiencing slight load lag/stuttering after being an in area for extended periods of time, typing /reloadUI in game will drastically help performance. I tend to execute that command at the beginning of each scenerio, it helps.

2. ***OPTIONAL***

If you have problems specifically for RvR, try "/script TextLogSetEnabled("Combat", false)".

I find that most of these things are only very moderately helpful.  I didn't know about the /script textlog thing though.  I will have to give that a go.  And I agree with the poster above me.  I won't be quitting myself, but they really need to fix the latency issues.  This is a common problem for most newly released MMO's but it is a very important issue in a RvR game.

people having performance problem like stuttering, it is likey something on your computer that is causing conflict. another app, software conflict. my friend had unplyable stuttering, we blamed mythic for bad coding. we finally decided to do a fresh XP install. now the game runs fluid. oddly all his other games ran fine before the reformat. something is conflicting with wars engine.

TBH, I truly think Warhammer has a leak in their memory. That's why it takes so much memory to run the damn game. Some games have had this problem forever and have never fixed it, hence the lag. Atleast, that's why I think I experience lag on Warhammer. I get on Lineage 2 (just an example of one of the many games I play) with high quality, no lag. I do sieges with hundreds of people and no lag....very odd that I get so much lag on Warhammer on low settings, lol...obviously somethings wrong with Mythics client. Too much memory usage while running the game is my only guess. I'm going to try everything the OP suggested to see if it betters my gaming performance any.

I still get really bad hitching issues after:

A. Reinstalling my OS (Windows XP) and reformatting my entire hard drive.

B. Downloading the most up-to-date drivers for the GeForce 8800

C. Making plenty of room on my HD (134 GB free)

D. Having 2 GB of RAM

It's got nothing to do with my specs. If I can run AoC on high, I should be able to run WAR on low. It's a client-side issue, I'm sure of it.
