WoW was the game that dumbed down the MMORPG industry. It has nothing innovative AT ALL. I have not played WAR as I prefer sandbox games but at least it brings something new to the table. |

they released this dumb ass game too soon, or too late, they should have released it at the beginning of June, but Age of Conan, was actually a really good game compared to Warhammer. |

Mythic has been very upfront what kind of game they were making. They said they were creating a game and not a world. In creating a game, were they successful? Certainly. It's when people go in expecting WAR to be something it just isn't that things start to fall apart on them. WAR certainly isn't the first mmorpg to make sure that a players' time is well rewarded. LOTRO does that very well and everything you do is rewarded incrementally rather than have you be playing with large gaps in between achievements (WoW). It's a preference which way you prefer. There are those who like WoW's way of doing things and there are those who like the way the newer gen mmo are doing it. WAR rewards you incrementally and gives you many mild personal incentives whereas WoW gives you large personal incentive with large gaps to be filled before you get rewarded. As for quests, WoW's quests were not hard or difficult. I played it for years and love the game but the questing was "difficult" only because of the drop rate and the long travelling involved. The few difficult quests in WoW, very few people did. I'm talking about the tier .5 armor upgrade armor quests, which was very difficult and took a long time to do. Note that few people actually did or even completed it. By in large, WoW's quests were easy. You have to be able to differentiate difficulty with mechanisms that prolong your gameplay; traveling times, low drop rates. Also, WAR was never touted as a pve game. They said it would have PVE but the focus is RVR. As such, to compare the two is sheer folly and completely unfair. It's like saying that a swimmer is more athletic than a runner. I know a lot fo WoW people have a very hard time understanding this very simple concept, but that is the reality. In this way, you also forgot to mention how playing WoW made you feel how subtly brilliant WAR's RVR system is compared to WoW's attempted e-sport pvp. So again, you're being dishonest with your evaluation. They are two different games focussing on very different things aimed at different target audience taste and preferences. I'm not flaming you but I do think that your OP was dishonest in its views. |

And Nice post OP. Good few things you mentioned we ( war lovers) know deep in hearth, but we still play it and enjoy game. Combat atm is a bit slugish, but game it self was released a weak ago. So they will really fix it. And developers do listen to community, so i am not worried. For one weaks old it is in very good shape, not that much buggs, prety much nice balance. Thought i still hate them for dropping Orc choppa :D. Now about Wow. I played all day War yesterday, then night time i played wow with mine firend doing arenas.( we are new to it, so we prety much having fun and learning, not grinding it). So thing is, i do love bouth games, and i whana play bouth. And i cant choose which one to stay and play... I think i will need to hook them bouth on mine visa... mine misses will stab me :D Just give war more time to polish it self and it will be grand game. Unfortunatly its not anather UO :(. But we have to work with what with got, untill darkfall ofc :D |

Everything is relative. A crappy game can be made to look good compared to a crappier game. |

To the OP If you are not a professional (reviewer) you sure look like one. And so does your text, it doesn't even have the usual typos. Your points are valid and sure reflect the way I feel and what I think about WAR and WOW. You should consider looking for a job on the gaming area if you haven't done so already. No, I don't regreat buying WAR. No, I will not subscribe it after the 30 days are over. Yes, I'm on my way to WoTLK. |

Haha, hell i'm debateing on buying myself a nintendo DS just to get away from all the craziness. WoTLK will succeed, as well as the other 10 expansions blizzard plans to release with their viscious cycle.
And those of you that are not looking at warhammer deeper... it only has 40 levels. and is still in it's First month going on to it's second. FOR ANY OF YOU THAT REMEMBER BETA WORLD OF WARCRAFT, it was more along the lines of.... "so tell me why i dont go back and play everquest or UO??" now its " why war when i can go back and play war?" geeze people some viscious, VISCIOUS cycles grow out of it : /. shit i've been a hardcore mmorpger now for 10 years. And im debateing on throwing it all away because the community just won't shut the nagging up. I'm about to go pick up that DS and mess around aand build me a sandcastle. I might get better gameplay with a five year old child in the sand then This community. good luck :). ( btw i'm still playing warhammer, i pray and thank everyday that something can stand up to the evil bitter, sour wastelands and demons of wow. ) |

Only idiots compare a mmorpg to WoW. Have you ever noticed how they claim that a billion dollar MMO is the only way to "out-do it" at their own game. I can already see that this game didn't have the income WoW had and that's understandable. This game in comparison with all the real MMOs (sorry this does not include WoW) is highly above expectations. In other words, look at the bigger picture and for once in your life; stop being stuck up douches. In other words, WoW in its league of its own. Only reason its there is because of the income spent on it is highly above average, unlike the majority of others. Personally, I just find it sad that WAR beats the living shit out of WoW in PvP. Hell, who likes PvE anyway? eewww. |
