You can not make that statement. I for one would not play the game because it did not feel like an immersive world with the over abundant instancing. Stepping on a portal to get to different areas of the world is not a world.

I don't think so at all, and I don't think Spellborn will fail. First of all, it's devs have actually been honest and open about everything. Second, Spellborn doesn't promise to redefine the genre, it promises things that are slightly new, and seem very entertaining. The main thing is that what it promises is actually attainable, so there's less of a chance of disappointment. Its also an original IP, so there won't be any fans of the novels or miniatures that its based on to be disappointed when the game is different than they wanted it to be.

Nostalgia is bad.

If you're saying that TCoS will be a failure if it gets less than 100k subs then yes, it will.

You mean the OP was not a serious post after all, but a troll? But your remark sounds like one too. I mean, how can you substantiate that remark?

Simple. I don't think TCoS will get 100k subs. What's trollish about that? I'm not saying it will be a failure, but if under 100k is regarded a failure it will be.

It so far below the expected amount of subscriber that it can be seen as such. Excite Japan alone is expecting 100K subscribers. Add to that subscribers in the rest of Asia, Europe and North America. And since you stated less then 100K as a fact, not an opinion, well I guess you see the point now.

Well, it was an opinion as I said it. I could say IMHO after everything I write but don't see the point.

I must admit that I wasn't considering the playerbase of Asia. In the west I don't think it will get 100k. I didn't realise this was eagerly anticipated in Asia. Often games that are popular there aren't in the west. I didn't think this was like a typical Asian MMO though.

You seem to have an old fashioned view of the Asian mmorpg market. Things seem to be slowly changing over there.

Oh, and stick around for a few months. Will love to point out to you how wrong you were with your estimate.

Don't get me wrong. I don't wish ill on TCoS. Might give it a try myself. I just don't think it will make much of an impact in the west. It's best chance will probably be word of mouth, over time, if it's good. I was replying to the initial post, which compared it to AoC, and regarded that as failing. I don't think TCoS will have anywhere near the subs of AoC after a few months. It's not high profile enough. Of course, you could see AoC as failing because of the profile it had. But based purely on subs, in the west, I can't see TCoS matching AoC.

And I admit I don't know much about the Asian market.
