Last I heard, STO is coming out on the PS3, the Xbox 360 and the PC. I wouldn't be surprised if Cryptic drops the PS3 development, but it will come out on PC.

This is true. The way the developers are talking they want the PC and XBox versions to release at the same time but if they can't do that the PC version will definitely come first. This will be primarily a PC game with console versions available so all of this discussion is pretty much pointless.

Let them put it on Xbox,I could care less so long as the PC version is good. I hate consoles myself just because I like a Mouse and Keyboard better than a controller. Now if you can use a Mouse and keyboard on an xbox 360,or PS3 and hook up to a computer monitor I am all for it:P

I wish more MMO's were for console only and cut the PC out.

1st Reason being is that all these cheaters that use mods hacks and bots would be cut out. well 90% of them anyways. It wouldnt matter so much if the bot and hack detectors worked better, but lets face it, they dont work very well.

2nd reason, preformance wise everybody is on the same playing feild, unlike computer where if you have a bigger wallet you can afford a monster computer. while a less fortunate kid has to play on an average computer.

The main reason why games lately are being ported to the consoles is because of PIRACY.

any new pc game comes up and the darn day it is released you can get it free off different torrrents ect (like emule). Many companies that make pc games lose alot of money or dont make much as expected due to piracy. This is even bigger in 3rd world countries that offer no proctection against piracy.

yes console games can be pirated also , however its very rare.

Also companies are doing this to broaden thier playerbase.

 

More and more games are going for consoles while few remain on the pc exclusivly.  So hate the darn pirates and all the dungholes who decide to get software for free. they are the ones to blame and hate.

Console games aren't as hard to pirate as you think.  But that's besides the point..

It's a lot easier to make a console game than a PC game, especially at the rate Consoles are advancing.  Believe it or not, that 3.4Ghz Quad core your running isn't as important as the graphics card your running is..  By making a CONSOLE game, developers can optimize the game based on that hardware, and not have to deal with questions Like "if I'm running a PIII, and a Geforce 5200, will the game run?" 

Who ever said that consoles are "like the Atarii 2600 compared to computers" doesn't knwo what he's talking about.  A machine DESINGED to game will perform just as well as a computer designed to game.  This also allows players to play a good game at a good price.  You can buy an Xbox 360 for 200 bucks.  No computer you can buy today can play the same quality of games as the xbox 360 for 200 bucks..  Hell, no way can you buy a CPU and a graphics card for 200 bucks..

Im happy with consoles. I will only pay RTS games and MMOs on my PC but if I can play a m,ore fast paced mmo on a console I will.

The irony is that the XBOX is the fps console. The only time release rpgs on XBOX is if they've already made the game have the xbox middleware from making another game and can just throw something together and hope it makes money.

I totally disagree. Console graphics are way better then PC Graphics. With an HD LCD Tv with a ps3, you can have yourself an amazing game with amazing graphics. I don't necessarily like console controls for mmorpg games because I'm sure I won't enjoy moving my char around. But, it's worth getting use to. I played Final Fantasy for a short period on the 360 online and it wasn't...too bad. I just never got into Final Fantasy.

I think putting mmorpg on console games is a GREAT idea. I'm ready for mmorpgs to also go console.

A. It will bring more players into the MMORPG

B. It could enhance the graphics on the game for the console players dramatically.

lol. Children's toys. What a dumb statement. Ha, funny. The graphics can be way better on console games than on PC Games. Why? Pc's are limited. Many people don't have SUPERIOR 2,000.00 PC's. Mine was 1,600.00 and it's a laptop. It can run everything like a charm but these games coming out don't even have great graphics. Fact is, if they put the game on the ps3 - 360 as well, they'll give that option for the console players to enhance the graphics. Console graphics are always better then pc graphics. I don't care what anyone says....I don't even play much console games anymore and I'll say that. Players just look more realistic on the ps3 - 360 compared to players on the pc.
