I've been playing WoW again and enjoying it. I played at launch for about 4 months and got bored, wanting to try something else. Still over time WoW has drawn me back in. I've played many MMO's. My first was AC1 (which I enjoyed for awhile), AC2, LoTRO, Eve (I really like this game and would enjoy it more if not for RL. This is a really quality game and IMO is #1 in the sci-fi genre), EQ2 (good game. I'd say at least as good as WoW except not enough friends in game), AO (very good game althoug graphics outdated. IMO Rubi-Ka with Shadowlands for $5/month is the best deal in all MMO's). Plus I think there is a lot of other great games out there (Ryzom as an example).

But what draws me back to WoW is the superior programming and the awareness of quality where bugs are kept to a minimum. Although I don't believe buggy programming disqualifies a video game, especially in innovation. It does tell me that priorities are out of wack. Potential isn't enough. You have to bring the potential to fruition.

Now for Blizzard Entertainment. Obviously WoW has been the most successful MMO of all time. You may be jealous of the game or think others or better but there is no doubt WoW has attracted people to play an MMO like no other. I would make the case that Starcrat is the most successful RTS of al time. Not only because of its ingenuity, but even more because of its balance. 3 distinct races with different strategies and so balanced that any of the races could win. Can anyone tell me of a RTS that has this eye to detail and quality?

Can anyone tell me of a better Action RPG than Diablo II?  I've played them all. Although I believe Hellgate:London tried to introduce the next gen in this genre, they failed miserably. Blizzard dominates the Action RGP genre.

I don't understand the hate for Blizzard Entertainment. As the belt strings tighten is what games I'm going to purchase, Blizzard will always be at the top of the list until proven wrong. I'm tired of wasting money on games that may be fun. Blizzard has never disappointed me.

I'm awaiting LotLK, Starcraft II, and Diablo III and will probably be one of the first to buy all three.

Possibly only D3 can top D2.

Happy New Year!

Really don't worry about it, all you'll see is the same regurgitated claims about WoW over and over, people can't even be original in their hate for blizzard =P

(in before people saying blizz stole this or that, and WoW isn't orginal)

IMHO Sacred is a really good option. If only, because interesting clases, big map, good quest, etc.

If you''re going to be crazy, you have to get paid for it or else you''re going to be locked up.

Ive never played D2 or even D1 for that fact.  But you might want to check out The Witcher they just released the Enhanced Edition. I havent played it all to much because Ive been occupied by other games.

Playing Guild Wars. Waiting for Fallen Earth and SE new MMO.

but they did steal a whole lot of ideas....they just put them together into some great games.

anyway when it comes to RTS i feel, thought starcraft is prefectly balanced and fun, its not the no1 in this genre.  its (10 years?) old and there have been many RTS games that have come out and have dominated the market.  As for action rpg....i cant even think of another one off the top of my head.  RPG wise i'd say Diablo would sit around no 5 on a top 10 list with some of the all time great RPG's towards the top (Baldurs gate, Elder Scrolls...ect) however action RPG's are rare so i guess it is no 1 in that field.  i'm not going to go into WoW.

Blizz is good at making games and it (now) has also enough staff and cash to have some of the best Marketers, testers, debuggers and managers that make theses games brilliant.  what will Blizz do in the future?  who knows,  but you can guarentee it will be polished and fun.
