Playing this game since over a week, i came to the conclusion that i miss immersion a lot. The game just does not suck me in like i would hope. General quests and especially the repeat of the same public quests kills a lot of fun for me. I tried to explore the world which is quiete limited due to loading zones and always a small entrance at the beginning and at the end of each "map". This is probably one of the major points which kills immersion for me. The world feels quiete stiff if you compare it to worldofwarcraft for example, exploration is quiete limited, at least i could not find really anything hidden or interesting. Questing is easy due to the marked circles on your map, maybe too easy and the meaning of explorations get quick neglected. Chats are empty always and i have more the feeling iam playing a single player game, why did this happen btw ?
Anyone else has the feeling that he just doesnt get sucked into the game world ? |

I can agree with you about the chat. No one is bothering to use it, less maybe guild chat. I was running around for about 5 days with an add-on that would spout random quotes in /shout (or whatever chat of my choosing) and not once did anyone say a word (except for one asshat that told me to go back to WoW, as I happened to change the random quotes to those of the WoW chucknorris addon). |

have you found any of the secret lairs in the RvR areas? no? then you did not explore that much now did you? Just the other day I found this secret cave in tier 1 elven place with statues inside, quite a nice place indeed... and a lever that open a stone door... somewhere! Where? I do not know! I have not explored that much so far. Have you checked the bestiary entries for many of the animals? Some mention to "seek the habitat of this creature" for an unlock. some are in high tier areas, other are in beginning areas, have you found any?

I agree, I felt no immersion in the GAME. Felt like a game from the beginning, never like a WORLD engulfed in war. Things like magically teleporting to a perfectly set up PvP match with no risk usually kills it for me though. |

Also no need to do a lot of quests if you mix PQs and scenarios as well. I agree that zone portals can break the immersion, but you'll only have to go through 3 portals to go from the start zone to the last chapter (and that would probably take some hours), so I guess it's not really bad. Sorry if you couldn't find anything hidden or interesting, because there surely are both types of spots. Like hidden ice caves, huge towers, secret passages and such. Questing is not easy overall just because of the red circles. On WoW everybody went to websites like thottbot to see where the quest target was, so what's the difference really? About feeling alone, it seems you just missed the first leveling waves. Most players are around tier 2~3 atm and only few players are re-rolling, which leaves tier 1 pretty much empty. I'm at tier 4 and I don't feel alone. I see people around most chapters. If you miss people chatting, then just join a guild. |

First off, thank you for taking the time to post a coherent dislike of the game. Such a nice change from the hate threads that pop up with the same message. As you well know, we all have different experiences with the same game. I'm not sure how that is possible, but I guess our personalities and expectations are different enough for that to happen. For example, I never felt sucked into WoW and thought the quests were really dull, whereas I find the quests really good in WAR and actually feel immersed. I've found plenty of things that are interesting off the beaten path in WAR, that I bet most people never really bothered to find. I know I only came across some of those things by blind luck. The point is that there are things to find, which you will find completed under the Exploration part of your ToK. In WoW, I never wanted to explore anything, because in WoW you have to fight every two seconds to get somewhere. I admit, that in WAR the world doesn't feel so much open, but I found WoW not to be much different. The zones were small in WoW and they changed drastically from one zone to the next, even though it was only a matter of walking 5ft. In WAR, you are immersed into these battlegrounds, where you duke it out with your PvE racial counterparts. This gives the feeling that WAR is everywhere, but I admit it does get tiring always being at WAR. Eventually, I do want some peace, to build a city, and settle down, even if it is just in a game. That is one thing I found better in DAoC. It seperated the war torn areas from the beautiful landscapes and relatively peaceful areas. I enjoy the ease of finding quests and their objectives, because there are so many quests to do. In a single player game, I wouldn't like this, because the whole point of the game is completing a storyline. Being lead by the hand would end up being a quick single player game. In a MMORPG, if they don't show you where the quests are, such as what DAoC used to do, you had people looking around for hours for the objective or cheating, by looking it up online. This can be fustrating for most people, especially the casual players, and extra especially when you have to fight every two seconds while you search for that objective. I'm not sure why people don't chat in the game. There are area channels, which are akin to General Chat in WoW, however people don't use them ever. I suppose since there is no need to spam LFG, the need for chat is eliminated. It is easier to just go to where your quest objective is and open a party for people to join once you get there. Then you can chat all you want. Another theory is that WAR requires so much activity from the player, that there isn't much time to chat. I joined a guild within the first week of playing, so between guild chat and the gold spammers, my chat box is constantly moving. I think if a person is having this much ill feelings about a game this early in the release, it is a safe bet you'd better /cancel and either look elsewhere or quit the genre until something you like releases. I've fealt the same as you in most games I've played, and have learned over time that if I have the feelings you do, that the game and I just aren't compatable. It sucks, because I want to be compatable with a game, but it just doesn't work that way. Out of the score of games I've played since 2001, only DAoC, SWG, and now WAR caught my attention. That's not a whole lot, but it shows that I can rely on my senses when they tell me I don't like a game. So trust your senses. |

unfortunately i feel the same. i actually find myself struggeling to feel connection to the world. imersion for me is feeling the sense of danger, surpise and challenge. I dont feel these things in WAR. I find myself playing UT3 more to get my adrenaline fix. unless aion can give me that pvp rush i enjoy, i'll be waiting for Huxley even though we may have humans on Mars before that happens. WAR is is good game for beginers, but as someone who has been playing videogames since the creation of pong, it lacks severely in engaging the thrill factor. I mean space invaders or pac man can get the heart racing more effectively than WAR. Ahh, then theres Defender, Robotron, Tempest ( was never into Asteroids )... but enough nostalga. My point is that simple games can give more excitement and WAR is just dumbed down or watered down... how ever you want to put it. I really like the way that there are plenty of activities in every corner of the WAR world, but if I really dont care or feel anything about those activities they are wasted content. When I distance myself from the product, all I see is a formula of constant rewards for very little effort designed with the intention of filling the time while reaching RVR endgame. Oh well... maybe if there were more character customization or more curves and bigger boobies on the female toons I'd like the game more! Oh and the Dark elf female grunt when jumping is such a turn off lol. |
