"WE ARE AT PEACE WHEN WE ARE AT WAR, and we are always fighting" |
Well today an atheist decided to log on wow and start bashing religion. I don't understand why atheists insist that what they believe is in fact not a religion. I mean why do they feel the need to convert people into atheists if its not a religion. If it were the truth, wouldn't everyone realize this instantaneously, for example like watching a video of porn, everyone would instantaneously know what that was if htey had eyes ears and an IQ of 100. So why do atheists feel compelled to convert? Any atheists out there want to respond>? I mean seriously, why do you feel a need to attack other peoples faith? I know not all atheists do, alot of my friends who smoke weed, and do cocain are atheists and they never say anything to me about religion. But it seem sthe ones whjo are not on psychoactive drugs have severe anger issues like richard dawkins, who is very violent against religion....for instults are on the continuum of violence according to psychologists and anger management therapists.
Anyways.....whatever....just had to vent somewhere, hope id idn't bore you all. |

“He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man.”- Samuel Johnson |
You have a lot of spelling mistakes in that paragraph. Athiests don't usually do that. Athieism could be counted as a religion or a lack of religion depending on your point of view. Why do Chirstans feel the need to convert other people? They have missionaries and everything. Religions are usally violent towards other religions, unless you are a Buddist or a pacifist who do not beleive in violence. Beside there's no real truth out there, it is what you think of it that counts the most. I hope this helps. |

I come here |
Agnosticism is probably much closer to being an actual "lack" of religion, since agnostics aren't sure WHAT to believe, or even if they should believe anything. Many people (including myself) believe that it's impossible to know what the truth is, so it's best to just wait and see what happens, and keep an open mind about the world around us. The day you think you've got it all figured out is the day you stop learning, and stop anticipating challenge, which is a mistake IMO. Talking about religion on a public forum though is probably not a good idea, since it's pretty much begging for trolls to come in here and start spewing flamebait. EDIT: Oh, almost forgot to say... did the OP really make a comparison to porno in a religion thread? |

OMG, so an atheist verbally attacked religion?? That's like way worse than having someone crusified or burned to death or killed by crusaders or get blown to pieces by some extremist, just horrible. Not to mention threatened with eternal fire. Pot meet 10 ton kettle. FYI, here's more precise definition of atheism, just in case there's someone else besides me who's tired of uneducated guesses: Atheism, as an explicit position, can be either the affirmation of the nonexistence of gods, or the rejection of theism. It is also defined more broadly as synonymous with any form of nontheism, including the simple absence of belief in deities. Many self-described atheists are skeptical of all supernatural beings and cite a lack of empirical evidence for the existence of deities. Others argue for atheism on philosophical, social or historical grounds. Although many self-described atheists tend toward secular philosophies such as humanism and naturalism, there is no one ideology or set of behaviors to which all atheists adhere; and some religions, such as Jainism and Buddhism, do not require belief in a personal god. |

To be honest, I dont really know a single athiest that trys to convert people, myself being an athiest and thus included. I really dont care what religion people are, but as soon as they start talking shit then I will not hesitate to back myself up.
And athiesm is not a relgion, they dont believe in anything, its only a title used to catagorize us. Nothing more, we dont get together talking of the evils of the christian society and say that if they dont convert they will all live a life of misery (as some churches do).
And the only time I will actually bash religion without being provoked is when I want to have some argumentive fun, I really dont care to convert anyone, its just so funny watching christians or any other religion get all rowled up and pissed off, and then use the same argument around 30 times. |

Uh.. most of them just simply put... Dont believe in a higher being such as God. Anyways i have dealt with this topic alot... and always ask myself "Why bother with religions, as many as there are, how can only ONE be right?" And i would suggest you drop this thread, for it will not cease otherwise.

Originally posted by Wow4Lifer You are now confusing a religion and a belief. I believe that there is no god, just as I believe that public transportation should be free in my hometown. I may sometimes try to convert people into atheism, just as I may sometimes try to convert people believing that public trasportation should be free. A religion would have to include some sort of worshipping, instructions from god on how to live, or something such. Atheism is not a religion, at least for me, any more than 'belief into free public transportation' is a religion. |

Well it's like when you see someone shaking a twig to cure a sick kid, you want to yell at that shaman and take the kid to a hospital. If you can't see ateism is not a religion, you need to go back and reread what a religion is. |
