WAR (Warhammer Online)

 Arghhh, GOA did something wrong so that the patcher cant find a file it needs to run WAR. It takes 2-3 minutes before you even see the error message. All that time, you see nothing happening. You get the impression that nothing is happening. Who thought it to be smart to start up an invisible process that takes minutes in case something goes wrong. It should at least show the user that something is happening.

1. maybe you use vista? If so alot of programs can take an age to do anything

2. it appears that WAR europe no longer exists, the EU website wont  even show up on a google search 

So, I'm guessing their entire network, login or something is down atm.

 Nope XP Pro. My system is excellent. Its stupid programming. http://www.war-europe.com/ is up, but no message about what is wrong. Any normal program would launch something visible and then state whatever is wrong, for instance "cant connect to WAR" or something. 

What is the GOA? 

Reason i'm asking is because i had some weird issues with the patcher after beta closed.

I was in beta since June of 08 and when the game launched i bought the digital download from EA, but when i'd go to launch the game i'd never get past the patcher.

With ridiculously slow downloading which took me over 30 hours to download (which is very odd for my DSL download speeds) and the patcher failing with no real resolution from EA i asked for my money back which they said they would refund (still waiting on the money to get refunded).

Problem for real is that i liked the game and knew right from beta that i'd want to play it.

I couldn't get the problem resolved for over a week and never got to play again.

Just thought i'd see if maybe there was still hope if i bought a CD and tried it with a new master account or something. 

I gave up though and went to play Hellgate London which may close soon, and also CoH/CoV which is a different playstyle but a well made very social game.

Sorry for ranting, hope you can get in game again, great world Mythic has there.

Well you are not alone...I´m having the same problem right now.

well bully for you excellent system. I still cannot connect to WAR EU web. I do not know what you want the program to do... If I run WAR I get an error message stating the patcher could not connect to the patch server.. The 1st thing it seems to do is contact the patch server, no reply, no launcher.

 How long does it take the program to tell you that it cant connect?

Its working now.
