I dont care if it was directly responsible for Jeff Freemans depression or not....there is no doubt that his time there trying to make peace with the "vets" affected him.

Several of them treated him like a dog. He tried in vain to make ammends with the mob.

All that forum is about is hate. Yet MMORPG continues to foster it, by providing a place to those that refuse to let go almost 3 years later.

Enough already....these folks have their own sites to wallow on.

A mainstream MMO site shouldnt be providing this type of atmosphere on their forums.

Is it going to take another person going off the deep end to get the message thru?

MMOs are games. Period.

Even if they are drastically changed, it shouldnt be a reason for a lynch mob to keep after those responsible for nearly 3 years. And there is no way on earth a MMO site should be allowing that type of mentality to frequent their site.

Maybe if a member of Jeffs family were to sue MMORPG it would get the point across...cause nothing else has seemed to change the status quo around here.

Swg Had nothing to do With that poor guy killing himself.

He had issues that were way more important than a retarded Videogame.

Leave the Vet forum where it is, those Ex players have a right to vent.

I can't believe someone actually thinks a Game like Swg and its fans/ haters made someone kill themselves.

I feel for that guys poor family.

No one is to blame for a person killing themselves except, that person.  For whatever reason they are pursued by personal demons that overtake them to the point that exiting this world seems like a sound idea.

Family, friends, co-workers and even those who posted hated filled messages on forums like this are not to blame for this, and they shouldn't think that they are.

Yeah the bottom line belongs with the person taking their life. I agree.

But that doesnt diminish the contributions by others leading up to it.

Several months back Jeff showed up to the forums trying to make peace with the vets.

Although some were understanding, others ripped him a new one. In the thread on these general brds ,about his death, someone was piping up about the damn game there as well.

Enough already.

MMOs are games...made by real life folks.

The "vets"  have complained for nearly 3 years. 

I sure didnt see comments by Jeffs family...and if indeed they did respond, then I am sure they were not aware of how folks treated him. "Hey thanks guys...Jeff is dead and you treated him like chit...but thanks for your two-faced words after the fact".

I am sure they would of been less than "friendly" had they known how he had been treated.

A man is dead. By his own hand or not isnt what is important...it showed the vets hating on him bothered him when he took several days to try to patch things with em.

Yet his efforts were wasted on a number of em...till he finally quit trying.

All those vets can attempt to take solace in the fact "he killed himself"...but to me the bottom line is they were wishing ill will on the NGE crew all along. Well their wish finally come true.

And as the RIP thread on this forum shows...there are some that still wont shut up about it.

The hate forums need to be removed from MMORPG.

1 Up did a show back on the 4th of July, and they discussed the state of online forums and how that one day a line would be crossed that would have serious consequences....I can't help but wonder with people on the vet forums saying such cruel things as: "it was sad Jeff escaped life without being punished for the NGE." if this is not what they were referring to, I do know that ABC is currently doing a report on Internet forums...WoW's in particular.

I don't think however that getting rid of the vet forum will solve anything...Jestor and his ilk will just set up shop somewhere else. No it's time to tame the Wild West of the Internet, Cyber stalking Cyber harassment need to have real consequences.

Actually you are 100% wrong,the OP is correct in his assessment.I am only guessing but no one has ever heard of aggravated assault?The courts and the laws make use of it,therefore they and MANY people feel things outside of the norm can be cause for aggravated aggression.Heck this is also why they have psychiatrists,i am sure a few of the negative responses here have heard of one?

We are all different,your rational or reasoning may not be seen the same to someone else.One person may take offense to a a little gesturing another person may go off the deep edge,you just never know who.We just saw the AOC guy leave his post,you think he left for any reasons outside of a video game?as one person mentioned.Stress is VERY real in this world and we all know it and have felt it one time or another,so don't sit there and start criticizing the OP telling him he has no clue.

Just because you only see a few forum posts ,that does not mean there isn't hate mail sent to this guys house,maybe phone calls,maybe people yelling at him on the street,how would you know?The thing is that they all add up to a lot more than a few forum posts after 3 years.I think some here choose to only see the puny details and choose to not look at the whole picture as is real life.There are also some people who are as we call it FRAIL.Someone like me or another may shrug it of or laugh at it,or if it goes to far i might elbow you in the chops ,you never know,but remember ,like i said we are not all the same,some take pressure differently than others,some are frail and can't defend themselves in any form or fashion in society.

There is without question a lot of ridiculolus SWG hate,that it even bothers me,and i really couldn't care less about SOE or a video game,it is the childish/selfish people that bother me.Once you start seing blatant liesthe nit becomes fuel for fire to get many outsiders defending SOE and it's game,because in reality the majority can't stand whiners,especially those concerned with a video game.
