Life''s a bitch because if she was a whore she would be too easy. |
Originally posted by Wharmaster That's why I said before all things are situational. In the mall situation the intelligent thing to do when someone ambushes you like this, it's to seek cover. Actually in all situations where you don't have the first strike the intelligent thing is to seek cover. How many of these individuals that open fire in malls, are alive? And the mall is considered a "safe" area, so people are relaxed that's why it's a different situation. The predator is not intelligent because it uses a weapon. It's intelligent because it analyzes a situation and adapts. Survival means to stay alive, first and foremost. A predator that can get food without a fight is the smart one. The one that seeks fights to become "stronger" is usually the food for the others. You forget a thing in your logic. In the example above with the mall the people know that if they hide and raise the alarm, people that deal with such "individuals" come and take care of things. With the absence though of the above authorities people always tend to gather and protect themselves. Such things happen in the absence of official goverment. An example is in China when women in villages far away from the protection of the army had to train themselves in martial arts to avoid rape. You'd be surprised how fast people adapt when the shit hits the fan. Granted there are casualties that could be avoided if they did that thing earlier but we can't have it all. I mentioned the army because the "predator" training is taught in many of the units. |

You detest humanity and their herding mentality but that's pretty much the reason we are the dominant species on this planet. Our minds evolved to form a more social and ordered society, we worked together and accompished many things. That being said, while I don't agree with the way you are, I can relate. Apathy towards the misery of people I don't know and never met...even those related to me, I'm consumed with it. I don't use it as an excuse to hate others though. I feel nothing for them period but it's more of a character flaw brought about by my up bringing. But thats my problem and I'm working through it. I'm married now, have my first child on the way. Maybe your upbringing was perfect or maybe it was utterly miserable like mine. The difference between you and I though, I'm strong enough to work through the bad and not let what others did to me, effect my life. You're weak. That's why if/when this word does goto hell and it does come down to survival of the fittest, you'll be one of the first to go. |

Actually, you're agreeing with me, although you may not realise it. A predator of course isn't intelligent because it uses a weapon....duh. But it uses a weapon because it's intelligent. And fighting to become strong is called training. Those who train have a distinct advantage over those who do not. Now, on to the mall scenario. I actually didn't forget....I wanted to see if you would bring these points up. The herd hides and wails in fear while the ones who have been trained to deal with these types of situations come to take care of the problem. People who realise the value of learning the art of violence. Such as the Chinese women you make a perfect example of. They trained themselves to fight, out of necessity. And their hatred of their enemies gave them motivation and the strength to overcome. These are examples of the traits that humanity should embody. This is MY POINT. Instead of focusing on what celebrity fucked who, or what the latest fashions are, or weather what they say might offend someone, or how gold their tan is, or weather they have the biggest SUV on their street, or overall being pathetic. And via their pathetic behavior, making life nigh unbearable for the rest of us.

Are you kidding me? You're missing the point. Adversity is necessary for growth. Without conflict, we stagnate, and weaken as a species. Look at it all around us. And, what you seem to be saying is although you were treated like shit, you didn't let it bother you. You took it like a good sheep. You didn't get mad and do something about it, you put your tail between your legs, and pretended it didn't happen. You tell yourself that you are "strong enough to work through what others did to you", but you are simply denying your own cowardice. I, on the other hand, was strong enough to not let them do anything to me. I stand and fight.

You stand and fight? Against? Reality TV? Big gunner! You rebel! So hardcore? Where exactly has your fighting brought you to in life? What do you do from day to day? I never denied that we don't need to struggle, that we don't need conflict. I agree with you on that. What I don't agree with is how you've let, whatever it was that happened to you, effect your outlook on the in such a negative way. You assume that because I've made a successful life for myself, that because I've started a family, I'm a sheep. I really don't see the logic in that. You claim I'm a coward. For what? Because you think that I, as an adult, let things happen to me? The details are really no ones business but the end results. I'm not on here bashing the entire human race because you had to goto court and point out on a doll where your daddy touched you. |
