Darkfall

First quick fyi about me: I basically loathe fantasy as a setting for MMO's, tho for one particular reason, Elves. They are imo very silly looking and the personality type that is attracted to playing pretty angelic creatures is i not the type of person I want to play with, be friends with or even be in the same space as. This is one of the things that really attracted me to AoC, it was more an alternate world history then another take on the Lord of the Rings, saddly that game was unable to hold my attention as I have come to realise that I am looking for a game like Darkfall.

Now other fantasy races bother me considerably less then elves, I alway kind of liked the orcs, undead, and dwarves of previous mmos, specially the dwarves, tho in wow I was sad that I could not kill the elves on my team.

When I first head of Darkfall I was a bit saddened that it would be another generic fantasy setting mmo, (Earthrise might steal me away from DF if it turns out to be a great game) but the feature set, the philosophy, the world, the ideals of the designers all spoke to me on a level that no other game has; this is truly the game for me.

At first I considered rolling either a dwarf or a human, starting a racist guild (anti-elf) and conquering the northern frost lands for my blackmetal inspired empire . But I have recently learned a few things that make me interested in rolling another race, mainly *gasp* an elf race.

1. Alignment pk penalties- If I play as a dwarf or human I cannot put all elves on KoS with out losing alignment and suffering some. I have a -10 sec character in eve and understand how annoying getting an negative penalty can be, not to mention the stigma it can create and the difficulty it can raise in building a guild who must gain the same legal status.

2. Alfar can attack every one, except Algar with out a penalty hit, and the have what might be the best racials in the game, being able to see in the dark. Having a visual advantage 50% of the time is in my eyes a rather huge advantage, I have not been able to find much info on other racials, except that dwarves get a crafting bonus.

I am considering picking an Ork or an Alfar at this time, I think an Alfar will be a better sneaker, ganker, all around pvp class, but Ork's will be able to kos all elves, which is obviously a plus for me.

So my question to you, which race will you pick and why?

I vote none of the above.

I will play an elf. So tell me what server your going to be on and the name your going to choose so that I can come gank you all day and all night. Elves rock better than any other class in all the mmo's I have played. You want to talk about silly and goofy and retarded looking, I would say look no further than dwarves. Dwarves are the ugliest looking class in any mmo and the only thing they are good at is making armor and weapons.  I have never and will never play one, but I will enjoy beating em up in Darkfall.

It's because Dwarves are ugly that makes them so special, they are not the obvious choice. Elves are imo for people who want to be the hero, the good guy, the anime character, Goku, etc etc. Elves are an easy choice and they lack character that a short ugly dwarf requires to play. If you want to be a male model, you role dwarf, if you want to be a world hardened real living being, you pick something else.

While I am not sure what server I will play on, look for Darkthrone of I am the Black Wizards fame if you want to hunt me, and I'll look for you under the name LegolASS or Goku and gank your ass back to warhammer =P.

lol I want some of what your smoking or some of that glue your sniffing. I will be sure to add you to my bi*** Iist, and btw I have yet to see a male dwarf that didn't look like a female dwarf or vice versa. I cant tell the difference both are fat and short and have hair growing in places that even dogs don't have hair.

There is an official race poll that is stickied in the advanced forum of forumfall (the official DarkFall forum).

Which race are the ones that look like sad, evil clowns?

If this game ever comes out I'll try the race that has the best looking outfits. IE ones with no horns.

Does not compute.

1) Dwarves are not ugly.

2) Dwarves are the most "world hardened" of all. They live IN the mountains.

What the hell games have you two been playing? Elves are for tree-hugging hippies and would fit the "model" role the best, easily. Orks are the ugly ones.
