The Xfire stats are real close to the follow up of an online game.

You can track the game's evolution on a day by day step (and it is frightening accurate in that its samples are far more acccurate than even TV broadcast samples). 11.000.000 sample is just crazy.

So game designers know this.

So (like FunCom) they publish "press releases". AoC had 800 K remember ? at the exact time Xfire demonstrated the fall on xfire and sale drops on amazon.com.

Timing in marketing is important. Just before the last weekend before subs start: a last shock to have the "bandwagon" effect. Problem is...  there is another reverse bandwagon on the move and you can't force players to play...

Anything over 60-70,000 paid subscribers will be financially successful. Anything more than that is a popularity pissing contest and is completely meaningless.

Any new or returning player to WOW, send me a PM for some help getting started.

anyone who says Xfire isn't fairly accurate just hasn't done their homework.   Every time a company releases official numbers, it is what Xfire already confirmed.  You can even go as far as determine games subscriptions based on comparisons to other games.   In 2 years, I don't think I've ever been surprised by an official number released from a company because it was already predicted by Xfire.

By the way.. Warhammer has still not matched AOC's 800k registration number.

You'll never persuade an e-loser.. i mean Troll.. into liking a game or even giving them factual information that completly denies them in all aspects of their arguement. If you haven't noticed, a lot of people believe they have this intelligence when they enter the "geek-hood", aka just playing video games all day, I personally don't know how it got all started. Anyway, seeing their massive intelligence of predicting what a failure of a game is besides the million dollar economists and designers the company has paid to say otherwise, the super geek is always right. He says WAR is a failure, it will be a failure. Period.

Just how it is, please rejoice you....things..

Fanbois are just as annoying as trolls, wouldn't bother me if both quit making senseless threads, er, sort of like this one.

OWNED!!!  Funcom is a publicly traded company and this is the official 2nd quarter report.  It shows that as of June 30, they had 800k accounts.

Here is the quote if you are lazy

"So far the game has sold-in (to retail and digitally)
over 1.2 million copies and has sold through over
800.000 copies (i.e. customers that since launch
have bought a game client and entered their game
client key and payment details into Funcom’s billing
database)."

That is 800k accounts. That does not mean they are active users who are currently PAID scubscribers.

I would expect nothingless from someone who think Xfire is good statistical evidence.

EDIT: The quote explains everything. That 800k means ANYONE who, from May 22 to June 30th or so, who entered in the information. That is almost 5 weeks worth of players to enter their information. That does not mean that they had 800k PAID SUBSCRIBERS on June 30th.

So? He never claimed AoC had 800k currently paid subscribers, he said registered accounts, which is what the new WAR numbers are.
