Darkfall

I don't mean that it looks similar (even though it kinda does, but that's just the realistic style), I mean the hype. Everyone is talking about how it's "new" and "different" and "this time, it'll be good!"...

Gotta say, I've heard that all before. But here's hoping...

One big difference AOC/Funcom paid millions for the hype in false advertising....

I agree with this and would like to add is that Tasos has said several times that they want people to try the game for free before ever spending a penny on it. If they follow through with that there's no comparison between the 2 companies.

It`s only new and different to the players who have not played this type of game before. Many people following DF recently  were probally 8-9 years old when UO was in full swing. I also bet many have not played Shadowbane as well.

Df has not just poped on to the scene in the last year,it`s been around for 5-6 years. FFA pvp is nothing new or looting banks or player looting.

Yep know one knows about it...... not one person..... Your not here talking about it there aren't already around 150k registerd on the official forums.... nope no one knows about it..... see where I am going with this? Why pay to hype up a game to be more than it is when you can spend that time and money making it what you want it to be. When it's a finished polished product ready to go on the market then and only then should you do any kind of advertising just to give people a general idea what it is after that you let the game speak for itself. Part of the mass exodus many MMO's have is due to over hyping and promoting a game far to early. Everyone has all this built up expectations that it's going to look like the commercial and that all the things bosted about in the commercial will be in only to find out they were cut months before release but they couldn't change the commericial because it was already made and paid for.

and I can't help but thinking TROLL when I read the OP subject line..

Troll or not, anyone can make an assumption about anything. I don't get why people have to degrade others opinions and assumpitions. Does it make you feel any better? Wether DF is good or not is for the consumer, meaning you, to decide. A game is a game to me, and all rg's play the same. I am more interested in how the game plays. Not what it looks like or how hyped it is. You could design your whole game in gold and I could careless as long as it played good.

? The situations of Darkfall and AoC have nothing in common. Never have.

As to how darkfall will pan out. There's no telling until it goes live.
