The Fed dropped interest rates to 1% after 9-11 and created a huge speculative bubble in housing.
This bubble was furthered by The Community Re-investment Act which forced banks to lend to unqualified borrowers and the risk-taking of GSE's Fannie and Freddie.
The bubble was exposed for the fraud that it is this year and as housing collapsed, the economy went with it.
Now the Fed and Congress are trying to prop up housing prices and making the same mistakes FDR and Hoover did in the Great Depression. Don't you wish you had listened to Ron Paul/ the media wasnt totally bought and paid for by the establishment? |

There's 60 billion dollars worth a risk and entrapment for 5 billion dollars worth of bonds(that risk is also interlinked between any and every instition that fancies itself an invester/banker)... On second though video games don't sound too bad. |

I hate video games, so many of those companies fold. They have no assets. They rent their offices, their furniture and their PC's.
If you lose money on a video games company, you lose the lot. Might as well bet on a horse and get decent odds and a rapid tax free return. |

Today the DJIA fell another 733 pts as nervous investors continue to pull money out of the stock market. Everyone is saying that the failing financial markets are leading to the economic meltdown, but I have a different take on this. The stock market is a forward looking entity, gauging what investors expect to happen in the future. I think the market is anticipating an Obama victory in the presidential race and nervous investors are worried it will slide the economy into an even deeper recession than it might otherwise have experienced as Obama has vowed to raise taxes on "the rich". So they are pulling it out of the American economy and will end up sheltering it offshore. Today I heard former Hillary Clinton supporter and fund raiser, Lynn Forrester de Rothschild, eloquently articulate what Barack Obama plans to do as President if elected. By raising taxes on those earning $250,000 and above and offering a tax credit to those who don't even pay taxes, he is effectively placing a ceiling on the American dream. You can be successful up to $250,000 and then we're going to sock it to you. Bad idea. |

| And that is why... Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness. |
