You kill the Joe, you make some moe

Im one of the many who weren't impressed with the game, figured id come back to the game maybe later if its improved.

So has anything changed, or been fixed? Any major changes or has it mostly been minor patches?

Hows the population holding up? Is it difficult to get a group at low levels?

Is performance still an issue for computers who aren't extremely rigged for gaming?

There have been massive improvements with patch 2.0. You can read more on the AoC forums about patch 2.0.

In short:

1. major stuff has been done with patch 2.0

2. Population is increasing on the high population servers (Cimmeria, tyrrany, Deathwisper,Set, Thog, Wiccana, Bluesteel...). This happens for two reasons, people are rerolling and new people come to the game. I don't know whats going on on some of the lower pop servers.

3. Performance is now great. Actually it was this that blew most people away with the so called PvP patch (patch 2.0) that introduced the new PvP combat system and last tweeks to sieging. The same patch also virtually doubled FPS, removed latency issues as well as it cleaned out most memory leaks. You wount belive it, you can't find one grey map OOC error thread in the official AOC forum anymore. Things are looking really up for AoC these days. My server has higher activity by the day in fact.

Last thing check out patch 3.0 which is at the testlive server at the moment. It is a hefty update.

Forums Are For Discussion. Let us discuss productively and respectfully!

Right now, nothing has changed to waiver the masses into returning. Gamers are not the patient sort, and other, newer games call for their attention and money.

The time to impress their customers has come and gone.  It's too late.

I just bought the game and have excellent fun now running through Conall valley. You can't put things on hold just because something is in development. There will always be something in development. I don't care that patch 3.0 soon will make it into game like Dx10 and more. If your question is,"are the performance issues that were in the game on launch gone?" My answer is yes. Also if you ask" Is the game any fun?", I would say, yes immense fun. Love it. Are there still stuff to work on, of course but it is getting very good now.

Support Bacteria - They''re the only culture some people have.

The most massive change:
Player base.
Before lots and lots of players and now just enough to maintain quite normal game play.
( well at least on my server )

Well trut.. khm joke a side, if you did not like it back then no reason to retry it now, just wait as game is not were it should be. My prediction would be to check it out in January 2009/ maybe late December.

p.s. Iam still playing and have fun however I liked it from head start.
