With all the "WoW Clone" comments I actually found this interesting. A look at WoW's upcoming PvP features. I find it funny because I was harassing my WoW playing friend a couple weeks back telling him to just wait that blizzard will take queueing from anywhere, and exp gain from pvp because both of those features work.

Queue from anywhere

Ability to reward some of the better loot in the game via battlegrounds.

Experience gain in battlegrounds

In such a short time it looks like WAR rubbed off on WoW. To me that makes WAR a success, and a solid concept. It is impressive that they made the mmo giant that is Blizzard look up and take notice.

Well...wow's next expansion wotlk has been planned every since wow became a hit success back in 2004.  If you dont believe me then read some of the forum post the development team made back in 2004.

Yea war added some new things not seen in previous mmorpgs that were a step in the right direction, but what mmorpg has not succeeded over its predecessor in terms of features?

I think both game are good.  WoW is much better then war atm, but war has great potential.

I am not saying WoW is a bad game. I am not taking a shot at blizzard. I am giving credit to WAR for some great features. I played everything from Meridian to WAR, and having said that, yes I agree both are good games.

ALL games influence other games.  What present MMO wasn't influenced by EQ, for example?  And I'm quite sure that other games influenced EQ as well.  Heck WoW has had influence on EQ2 over the past couple of years (more than most EQ2 players really LIKE, actually).  WAR will have influence on multiple games, and other games will and have had influence on WAR's design too.

Not much of a revelation in this.  Pretty much any successful product on the market, from hamburgers to gaming, and beyond....has influence on other products.  I'm not sure why gamers seem so surprised at this.  LOL  (Not that the OP seemed surprised or said anything negative about the trend.)  Marketing and sales are all ABOUT staying on top of what the public wants, and ALL games try to DO that, just like all other products do.  It's good business sense.

THE ABOVE POST IS MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION. Duh.
Now Playing: WoW, EQ2, EVE. Presently in closed beta for two upcoming MMOs, really looking forward to The Agency, Runes of Magic, Aion and TCoS releases. Still debating a return to Vanguard. I also play FPS games, such as Unreal 3 and Painkiller, and some single player games like Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. I'm addicted.

Labeling any MMO as a "WoW" clone is such rubbish nonsense which can only be construed by someone who's never played MMOs older than WoW. If WAR is a "clone" of any kind it's a DAoC clone. WoW itself is simply an EQ clone.
