I'd recently change of computer and I'd decide to inform myself before redownloading WOW (World of Warcraft) ... And on this website, I saw that there were other good games possibilities ... including Warhammer online ... What is the game that I should download between them ?!? (Sorry for the mistakes and the lacks of details, ... but I'm not normaly speaking or writing english .... :$ )
Thank's ^^ Fandenzel ;) |

Depends on taste. Ive tried WoW 4 or 5 times; my brother even tried to pay me to play his account with him. And i could only play for a week till i just couldnt log on anymore. I never liked EQ so im not surprised WoW wasnt my cup o tea. I did like DAOC and I am having a blast in WAR. If you like PvE then go with WoW, if your all about PvP then go with WAR. |

If you've never played WOW i'd say go with that over all it's got more to do in the long run, WAR to me is only fun for short spells over wise it get boreing pretty quickly. |

if you are exspecting people to claim wow is the game for you, well you came to the right place since all the doom saying wow fan boys hang out in this warhammer forum all day long complaining the game warhammer is not like wow. but here is the question i ask for you. in a mmo . do you want to play a game where you have fun maybe once a month, or do you want to have fun sevral times a month ? are you looking for a game that is all gear and raid based ? , or are you looking for a game that is all group and rvr based ? are you looking for a game that has lore dating back 13 years ? or are you looking for a game that has lore dating back 25 years ? do you want to play a game where you feel a little bit of envy when seeing another player , driving you to play more ,and making you spend more and more time , so that when you are not playing the game you are thinking about it constantly ? or do you want a mmo that dose not give you the whole envy towards another player and you can go do other things without having the game on your mind so you can actully enjoy your life ? if you could answer these questions then i can get back to you with what game you will want to play. |

I wrote this when Warhammer first came out: Ok, had someone ask me what were my thoughts on Warhammer Online and after talking it over with Erd, I will post my thoughts publicly. Your now asking why listen to Jenner, when there is so many posters out there. Well, there is no real reason to listen to me, I do have 11 years of MMORPG experience and I will give an unbiased opinon the best I can (Yes, this coming from someone that believes The Death star was nothing more then an orphanage, only going where the Rebels caused death to save the children and all it's weapons were purely defensive). Back to Warhammer Online. Anyone who has played wow will be fairly comfortable with Warhammer, in a alot of ways it is a Wow clone, but there is Several Major Differences. While you have your questing system in the game, It is geared for pvp and each Area (an area is Designed for every 10 levels) has it's own battleground, it's own Realm Vs Realm Area (you do not have to do either). When first entering the Battle ground, you will find that your Stats are bumped up to 2 levels below the area max (8, 18, I have not seen past that yet) While you do not have the specials or armor for that level, you can compete and was getting killing blows with a level 1 toon. The Battleground do give Experience points, so if you do not want to quest and just pvp, that path is open to you. The Battleground gives what is called renown and you can get armor and weapons with it (alot like the rep system in wow, except you can get pieces for your level starting at 1-10). Each area has what they call an Open Scenerio, it is like a open dungeon, The ones I have encountered has 3 waves, a normal mob for that area wave, easy to solo, a Champion Phase (they are kinda like trash mobs in an instance designed for your level in WOW, really hard to solo, but can be done) and a Hero Phase that sometimes has Champions Mixed in (Best way to describe a Hero is imagine having to fight Drake with only 8 60's) Depending on how hard the OC is, there are a Number of Loot at the end, the game ranks you on damage or healing you done during the 3 phases and depending where you place, you get a bonus to your roll of 1-999, First place gets a great loot bag, then there is bags below it. Now what happens if I do not win a prize. Well first you get a section type rep and if you stay and do it again, you get an additional bonus to your roll the next round called a persistence bonus. Graphicly it is a Beautiful game, I have been running it fine with a Amd 64x2 5800+ processor, 3+ gigs of DDR 3 ram and a nvidia Overall I have not been this excited about a game since I saw the complexity of the Starwars Galaxies Crafting system at Launch. I am Hope that explains the game for those of you who are wondering about it.
I want to add I am still excited about the game and while I have been playing different class to try to build up what I think my guid needs I have a few toons in the 10-20 range and 1 in the 20-30. I have found all aspects of the game to be fun with the exception of crafting, but till a game comes out with a system like the PRE CU SWG crafting system, I will find crafting to be lacking. |

Sadly I have to side with WoW on this one. In an attempt to not be a total Troll, WAR's goal shifted when Mythic was bought by EA. It's an obvious tit-for-tat clone of WoW with just enough additional intricacies to keep the WoW-burnouts from burning out right away on WAR. Having been a die-hard DAoC fan, I expected a lot of the same ideas, complexitiy of gameplay and overall great time that DAoC offered. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in that aspect. In the end, I had played WoW for 2 years before quitting. I played WAR for a month or so before I felt like I was playing almost the same game again and just couldn't go on anymore. I know it's nit-picky but even my Witch Hunter's skill descriptions bothered me in that they were trying to disguise "combo points" as "accusations" but in all the skill descriptions they still labelled the "accusations" as "combo points" Like I said, trying not to be a Troll, but it's just my take on the game and hopefully that'll be respected. |
