OP: Please go away for a few hours and take some deep breaths. Would you expect a WoW / WAR / AoC account etc to GAIN levels while your account is inactive? What would be the point? The only reason everyone is pissed at CCP is because this means you won't be able to train a load of extra characters and then sell them for isk to noobs who can't be arsed the play the game properly. The fact that Eve still lets you skill while you are not logged on is a massive boon over other games anyway.Geez next you'll want CCP to play the damn game for you and then blame them when your ship gets blown up. |

You get rested XP , but you still need to play to gain the levels. Why should you get anything for not paying for the account? Now if they stopped OFFLINE skilling I'd quit , that would be worth shouting about. Plus ofc , the old EULA chestnut - which basically says they can change what they want.CCP have not handled it well as usual - guess I just expect stuff like this from them now (sigh) Seems it will just stop alot of exploiting , however it may have been better if , when the account goes inactive you get "rested skillpoints" . When the account re-activates and is paid for you could spend them on the skills you wanted to train. |

PR is obviously not one of ccps strong sides. Nothing new here though. On the positive side, they just put storefronts (new&improved addition to contracts for corps) and weapon linking (no more changing ammo for 8 guns separately) on sisi.. |

( Source ) I remember the same happening to some other threads that grew extremely fast. CCP should finally replace their own forum software with something stable.. |

A riot is an ugly thing... und i tink it`s time we had vun! |
Originally posted by Taniquetil I think you are comparing apples to peas here. The point in EvE is exactly that you get rewarded for not playing the game. No matter how many times you fire your lasers, regardless how you perform in game, the progression stays fixed. In all other games you mentioned you actually have to play the damn game to improve your online alter ego. However, if you consider clicking on a skill in your character screen as playing, then by all means, you are correct by your own standards. They basicly are telling you now that the Battleship from IV to V will now cost you about 2 months subscription flat (as an example, there are others). So it is a price increase for probably quite a few of their most loyal customers, those who hold several accounts. You could probably argue if alienating your best customers is a good thing. Some wrote that it is, as it will supposedly prevent 'noobs' from acquiring Avatars allowed to pilot the more glamorous virtual spaceships. Heaven forbid that those unwashed Hordes spoil it for the glorious pod-pilot master race by actually getting to fly the same ships as those who got this privilege by watching bars fill up over several months. If you think that is an archievement, then we probably won't come to a mutual understanding here. Also, they very recently have offered you to acquire additional accounts at reduced rates. If you took the offer under the then correct assumption that you will get to train those accounts even when they will become inactive sporadically, you may feel screwed now. You might feel that you are not getting what you paid for, and I must say, I would agree with you. Finally, I liked the part in the announcement there they went to blab about that it is all in the name of game balance. It speaks of their healthy disdain towards their fanboys, sorry, customers that they assume that they will either believe that for face value or just suck it up anyway. |
